I've always been skinny/slim/bony however you want to call it. Never really been insecure about it but now that I'm getting older I'd like to put on some muscle! Not only for the visual benefits but for performance also as I am an athlete of sorts. I don't really "work out" or have any type of routine. I DO do pull ups every other day at home and train in Parkour every 4 days or so which is physically demanding so that's sort of a workout in itself.
This is where I am at right now: http://i.imgur.com/beB58q1.jpg?1 I don't exactly want MASS only as I want every pound to count since I am all about efficiency. I want to look the part and be able to play the par. (I could do some things that some more "fit" people can't ![]() I'm going to buy some cheap $80 weight bench set from the local department store. I planned to just do plain ol' bench presses, dead-lifts, and bar squats for the legs and ass hahahaha As for cardio I was going to do the Insanity workout. My aim is to get larger arms, pectorals, abs, obliques, legs, and glutes. If anyone can suggest exercises, routines, shakes, supplements, etc. It's be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! |

Alright, no cardio will save me some time! I just checked myself and I'm a measly 125 lbs. What supplements/routines would you recommend? |

Definitely hit the weights to add muscle mass. Success is the continuous journey towards the achievement of specific predetermined, worthwhile goals -Chris

Not sure what hulk thinks, but I dont think you should really be messing with all these supplements besides the basics until you have a good 3-6 months of solid lifting behind you. If you are really all about "efficiency", then you will probably want to stick to compound, multijoint movement and avoid isolation. A great book that covers these exercises, in addition to a routine aimed at novices, is "Starting Strength" by Mark Ripptoe. Buy it. Read it. Do it. And regarding your scare of gaining mass..... I am 6 inches shorter than you yet 30 lbs heavier. I coincidentally compete in competitive MMA and BJJ, used to do parkour, gymnastics, and bboy before that. You can have muscle mass and still be agile (which is what I think you were referring to when you said "efficient"). |

Thanks ArmyDude!
I'm going to stay away from taking a lot of supplements until I develop a good feel and have more experience with workouts. Just protein for now. I will check out the book right now, thanks for the rec! That's EXACTLY what I meant by being efficient. You can do all that and still be heavier... Not so scared about mass anymore ![]() I'm going to do this http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dougs-mass-building-routine-for-ectomorphs.html and just pack on extra weight every week. I had trouble finding a routing to follow but I found one and it has good reviews so might as well give it a shot. |

You should get a copy of BRAWN by Stuart McRoberts, the original one, all the rest are just variations on the same theme.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
