lol, 1300-2000% is more than synthetic HGH does. that doctor is 120lbs. does he sell his own "HGH booster" products?
sure does http://store.designerhealthcenters.com/ pro bodybuilders stay far away from any sort of fasting beyond about 6 hours. if it does raise HGH levels its because they are probably 0 while fasting and it gets back to baseline for a few hours. this is another case of manipulating statistics to arrive at a predetermined conclusion. he should lose his medical license. certified PT (ACSM) and Fitness Nutrition if it matters, 11 years of bodybuilding , 8 natural 12/1/2013 - 5/1/2014 --- Fcked 31 Girls

I didn't look at the studies he cited so I can't make that assertion. I believe the diet is geared more toward weight loss and health as those are easy enough to understand. |

You can discuss the theory all you wan't, but fact is that it works - and it works well. I've been following it for some time now, and I am very pleased with both the results and the "diet" itself.
Now, ofcourse, if you want to be 300 pounds, then you can't cram in all those calories in a shorter period of eating. However, for the average person wanting a great, low BF body, then it's amazing. I followed it some time ago quite religiously for 4 or 5 months.
There was some website and eBook, called "Eat-Stop-Eat" by Brad Pillon. The problem was that I tried it back in the days where smartphones and their abilities were not omnipresent in our lives. So I didn't have an easy calorie / nutrition logger. I felt horrible during and a few weeks after that time. I was tired all the time, felt lethargic, unhappy/moody and couldn't bring the required performance professionally, as well as in sports and sex. Basically had no interest at all. And the worst part...I didn't even lose a reasonable amount of bodyfat after an initial quite impressive drop. Only months later I got my hands on those calorie / nutrition logger apps and recalled the amount of I ate during that time, by checking old bills and some notes of recipes that I took. The problem was that I fasted 3x/week for 24h, but didn't eat back the calories. This paired with exercising left around 900-1000kcal per day for my body to maintain itself, which is 1300kcal under my basal metabolic rate. I was shocked. I asked my doctor during my annual check-up about it and he said I did no lasting harm, but he wouldn't suggest doing it that radical unless you really eat back the calories and even out to a reasonable weightloss deficit of maybe 500-600kcal under the BMR. And all the calories you burn through exercise should be eaten back on the non-fasting days! Trying to use both, excercise and fasting, to cut calories is a dangerous thing that...at least back then...was hard to track. Trust me, been there and experienced that. I still think it's a good thing, though ![]() And I aim to do it 3x a week. Where I basically do not try to eat for 14-16h and then hit the gym for a HIIT cardio session. And I do not cut back on average daily calories, as I still eat every day and do not skip full 24h, as I did a few years ago. So the calorie deficit comes mainly from exercising (average daily deficit of ~400kcal) and a little bit by not eating carbs (average daily deficit of ~300kcal). So give it a try, it works. But just be careful to not torture your body ![]() All the best |

These are claims that have been made about IF. I've used IF for 2 cutting cycles and it's helped me but I can't honestly say it was the IF. I reduced overall macro intake when I hit sticking points and upped cardio frequency as well.

It's simple thermodynamics - eat more calories then you burn, you gain weight. Eat less calories than you burn, loose weight. However, the macros aswell as hormones decide if you are loosing fat or muscle. I too recently discovered that I didn't eat nearly enough, and what a different did it make when I incoperated feeding days! If you keep the body deprived of calories for a longer period you are going to feel like total shit. You need these feeding days to "reset" hormones such as leptin. Daniel. This is my third week of IF. I eat about 4 hours every day and fast for 20. But I take a cheat meal/day every week. I've not noticed any fatigue at all. Energy seems higher. I train harder fasted. Hunger is also less. I'm rarely hungry, rarely crave food.

Been doing intermittent fasting for over 3 years. Strongest I've been. Leanest I've been. Energy is great. Productivity is much higher than when I was cooking/eating 6 meals a day.
There was a bit of a learning curve to it (figuring it out for yourself) and I could see why many people would quit in the early stages. Is it for everyone? Definitely not. If you want to be a 270 lb bodybuilder chances are you're going to have to follow a different protocol because you will not get the required calories in the small window of eating. With that said, all you can eat sushi has never been this fun ![]() |

I just read Chris's new article on IF and I'm disappointed. He doesn't seem to be talking about the same diet I'm on. I never go 24 hours without eating. Not even close. I skip breakfast and eat lunch and dinner. I get large amounts of protein, low carbs, and high fat. During my fast I also down BCAAs to help prevent muscle loss. As I've said before I hate eating breakfast. I can literally vomit if I eat in the morning so the six meals a day thing has never really worked well for me.
I don't think this is for everyone but then again I don't' think the mini-meal diet is for everyone. I don't think you should dismiss fasting as a fad. It's been around a lot longer than any other diet. The greeks prescribed fasting for health reasons 2500 years ago. |

This is the sillyest thing I've ever heard. What is the point of raising natural HGH is you don't eat the food you need to grow? Talk about a moot point.
If you want to be big you need to eat big, and eat clean. That means six means a day and every time you miss one of those meals it's a step backwards. It's not always easy but ypou have to get it down your neck, plain and simple. Steady food, training, and cardio keeps your metabolism spinning so you can be strong and not gain fat. 6' 1" - 245lbs - 11% BF
