What the title asks. If we're already reasonably fit and just looking to cut after a bulking phase, can we still do Chris' diet? Based on the amount of weight some of those guys lost per week, it seems like it would eat a lot of muscle
The general wisdom on cutting seems to suggest that .losing 5-2 lbs a week is optimal. Anything more and you're likely burning unnecessary muscle. Yet people on his diet were burning 3-4 lbs a week If anyone has any clarification to offer, would appreciate it Every goddamn day. Get in there.

I wouldn't do it. It's for people looking to lose as much weight as possible as quickly as possible, not for someone looking to preserve as much lean mass as possible.
I'd stick to high carbs and 1lb per week. |

The more fat you have on your body, the more you can lose each weak. The leaner you get, the more you gotta do to hold on to that muscle if you're cutting. A lot of the weight from a no-carb diet is from water for the first week or two. Luci, I see you have "fix hypo" in your signature. Have you looked into iodine and its effect on the thyroid? Take a look at this article: forums.t-nation.com/t/thyroid-basics-explained/185344 After reading that I bought an oral thermometer and my body temp in the morning and mid-day is as low as 96.6, indicating some serious problems with my thyroid (which would explain my chronically cold feet). I have also found a correlation between body temperature and energy levels/brain fog - the colder I am, the less energy and the more brain fogged I am. I'm starting my iodine therapy as soon as my supplement arrives. Reading various threads online it seems those who have been iodine deficient has seen some life changing effects from taking it. Generally speaking, the greater the amount of muscle you have on your body, the less conducive of a choice this type of diet would be. Keep in mind the GLL diet is a general outline for beginners all the way up to advanced guys to get shredded as it will inevitably get whoever follows it properly much much leaner. The same can't be said for high carb or carb cycling diets, so it is more of a one size fits all diet that works great for EVERYONE, but isn't necessarily the best choice for guys with tonns of muscle on their frame.
If you have lots of fat to lose and don't have a substantial amount of muscle on your frame, the GLL diet is a very good option and I'd recommend it any day. |

I did the diet about two years ago when I was already in decent shape. I got completely shredded with the diet but also became very depressed and anxious from the low carbs. It seemed to mess with my hormones as well in a negative way.

I'm following the diet now, (starting at 16-18%, not too fat). But I don't care about muscle or strength anymore
Please no Private Messages. Post thread on with the word "Chris" or "GLL" in it if you absolutely need to get my input. Thank you for your understanding.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
Kratom is next!
