I'm looking to transform my body(more than it's been transformed before) Here's a little about myself. I'm 5'6 and 19.
I'd always been skinnyfat. Like high bf%, very low muscle mass
Around June 2013 I decided to begin going to the gym, which I did. However, I barely lifted many weights. I succeeeded in losing a lot of the weight and ended up at my lowest at about 51kg or 112 lbs in around September 2013
Then I realized I looked like a stick insect and since then have been trying to put on some muscle. I got up to 58 kg but then I went travelling for a bit with little gym access. This didn't make me fat again because I was careful, but it did tone me out a bit and maybe lose some muscle Mass.
Anyway, current pics of me, at around 55kg(121 lbs)
Obviously I could use some more muscle. My aim is to be in the top 1% in terms of physique to basically compensate for height as GLL has elaborated. Happy to spend the next few months focusing on gym and some other stuff. I REALLY really need a good workout routine to follow.
I don't really have a time frame, but I'm going travelling again next August, so I would like to be in the best physique that I have ever been in by then.
Depending on the research I do, being quite skinny and weak, most people recommend a 3 day strength routine. I'm happy to do it, but several other sites say that as a skinny fat, these routines won't work. I'm available to workout 5, 6 times a week. aesthetics that is, maximising my attractiveness is my primary goal here, so a work out that focuses on it would be really good. My inspiration would probably be Mark Wahlberg here, another short guy who stands out in his physique
I'm pretty disciplined and determined. I just need a routine to follow.
Final question: Would you guys suggest a "clean bulk" or just an all out bulk for maximum results for me? And if clean/lean bulk, what caloric surplus do you suggest that I eat?
Thanks guys for all the responses
Hey bro, congrats on your progress thus far. The key at this stage is just to get in there and lift. It really doesn't matter what your program is right now, as long as you're putting some serious effort into it and staying up on your nutritional requirements.
There is a huge amount of support for StrongLifts, 5 x 5, etc. Feel free to jump on one of those programs if you want, they are popular for a reason. I personally find that strength doesn't directly correlate to size, so I tend to follow a hybrid size/strength program of my own. You'll eventually learn what your body responds to best.
So just get in there and bust your ass. Squats and overhead press are the best exercise in the world, IMO. Followed by bench (all variation), BB rows, and deads.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
Kratom is next!
