Hi I need suggestion regarding whether I should get a shoulder labrum surgery for a labrum tear that is almost 40% torn. My shoulder started dislocating 10 years ago while i was playing basketball and since then it has popped out like 10 times. I went to get an MRI recently and the doc said it's a labrum tear and thats why it pops out in anterior motions especially when it's to the back and to the side.
I was wondering if I should get a surgery since I am also trying to transform my physique. As far as lifting, I can do the lifts that don't involve much anterior movements(eg..cable crossovers). As far as sports, I don't do swimming nor wrestling or much sports that involve moving arm fast to the back and side. I'm at 16% bf, 6'1 and 210 lbs. I am just wondering whether shoulder surgery would be necessary at this point of time while I'm trying to transform the physique to max out the looks and I'm not into sports much other than gym and training.
P.S The rehab process for labrum tear surgery is about 8 months.
I don't know much about labrum tears but I'd probably get the surgery over and done with man.
It can be a pain and a big interruption to your life, but I believe each time it pops out you may be at risk of doing more damage to the cartilage, and likely just going to push you forward towards arthritis and more issues in the future. Unless it's not at all intrusive or causing any pain, it's probably better to do it now than later. Has your doctor suggested it be done in the short-term?
Speaking from experience from torn ligaments and meniscus in my knee, shits painful and I wish I could have dealt with it sooner.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
