So, I've been a gym rat since around 2005. I'm not green by any stretch and can lift pretty heavy. I've followed the same routine pretty much since and have gotten a very nice body as a result.
Over the last six months, I just can't seem to bring myself to do an organized and motivated workout and it just seems that I go workout and get frustrated and burned out very quickly.
Part of the problem is I have no structure in my going to the gym time. I don't know what time work ends at when the day starts. I could finish as normally planned at 4:30 or get home at midnight. Nature of the job. Saturday and Sunday are usually the only days I can budget and have had massive workouts in those days. With my advancing age (38) those weekend marathon workouts that compensate for shoddy weekday attendance get pretty hard.
I'm very confused. I don't know if this is mental, I need a new gym/change of scenery, new routine or what.
I'm going to see a personal trainer and see what can be recommended but would hope maybe some of you guys can throw me a bone here as well.
If your unsure of your work end time, perhaps your start time is more predictable and you could work out in the morning. For 8 years I had a job that started at 10 am and lasted til 8 pm. I used to get to the gym by 715, workout for an hour, shower and change at the gym and go to work.
IMO the workout is the most important activity of the day.I'm not talking about being "shredded" which is really not that practical over the course of a lifetime. I'm talking about being in good shape, with developed muscles, good cardio capacity and a healthy weight. It will pay you dividends in your overall performance at work and everywhere else in your life.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
Kratom is next!
