I'd like to rock a beach body for a year and see how many chicks I can slay. But I don't want to lose too much muscle. Brad Pitt's body in Fight Club was attractive, but way too weak (no chest) for my tastes. I would feel a little less manly looking like that. 4/1/13: Body Stats- 5'11", 190 lbs., mesomorph, muscular body, no abs (20% BF), doing GLL Fat Loss Diet
4/1/14: 183 lbs., 15.0% BF, need to add more cardio Goal: 10% BF, 170 - 175 lbs. and a physique similar to Vin Armani (Google Him). |

R, what does your current physique look like? Shredded? Huge? I was thinking of getting some adjustable home weights to be a little more efficient (gym commute back and forth is 40 minutes out of my day). 4/1/13: Body Stats- 5'11", 190 lbs., mesomorph, muscular body, no abs (20% BF), doing GLL Fat Loss Diet

My 1RM at age 37 and 185 lbs. is 245 on bench. Nothing record breaking but better than the average gym dude. I think my form is really good, no bouncing off the chest or arching of the back. 4/1/13: Body Stats- 5'11", 190 lbs., mesomorph, muscular body, no abs (20% BF), doing GLL Fat Loss Diet

Just do both. Start with the heavy compound exercises and finish with isolation exercises. Best of both worlds.

No arching of the back is actually bad form. Also that's average for a dude that has been going to the gym constantly for a year or so. |

I think it's worth it. I attached a picture of me when I was training for powerlifting and now that I'm training for aesthetics. I was stronger before, but now my muscle diameters are bigger and I have more muscle mass. You be the judge. I think you can see from my expression which training style I feel happier doing
![]() I do a couple of big compound lifts at the beginning and then lotsa isolation work, lotsa volume. Edit: I should mention that I'm not a natty, but I firmly believe the difference in training style would be the same even if I was. |

I don't mean to undermine your results in any way terminator, but don't you think it's worth mentioning that you're not a natty? "Motivation is fleeting and easy to rely on because it requires no concentrated effort to get. Motivation comes to you, you don't even have to chase after it.

I am no expert. But as far as I know, there is no such thing as shaping. You'll add more muscle aka mass. And that theory you can throw right out the window. From my experience (I have a lot of friends who are girls) they prefer a balanced lean physique. What is your diet like? Cals, macros? |

Yes, it definitely is worth mentioning. The same thought occurred to me while I was at the gym, and I edited a note into my original message. |

I have loosely been following your training and approach logs and am very impressed on the drastic changes you have made so far. Yes, the face looks quite big in the first photo, a much sexier appearance in the second one. Also, what are you doing to get color? Bronzing, Melotan? 4/1/13: Body Stats- 5'11", 190 lbs., mesomorph, muscular body, no abs (20% BF), doing GLL Fat Loss Diet

That's true, girls don't give a fuck about that, but if you want a nice body just because you want to impress girls then I think you're bound to fail. I hope for your sake that you don't do something as time consuming as working out just because you want to get pussy. I want a nice body as well, but I want to be healthy in 30 years too. It's pretty easy to get an injury in 10-15 years if you continuously reinforce imbalances in the body. I stopped smoking for the same reason - longevity. Work hard, but rest hard too friends. I believe that big compound exercises are the way to go if you're a natty, be it for strength, size or general health. You need the additional volume when you're juicing since your recovery is through the roof, but for a natty recovery really is the limiting factor. You don't need the isolation exercises to reach your recovery threshold. "Motivation is fleeting and easy to rely on because it requires no concentrated effort to get. I wasn't talking about the hormone release, but rather the use of proper technique and exercise selection. For example, everybody's tried having a bum shoulder, and the reason for this is usually that some muscles are short and stiff while others are weak. Or, another example could be an anterior tilted pelvis, inhibiting the glutes, shortening the spinal erectors (which puts unnecessary compression on the disc) as well as lats and lengthens your hamstrings which increases your risk of pulling them.
Most doesn't give 2 fucks about this stuff until they become injured themselves, and even then it's not certain that they'll ever learn whats causing their injury. If you focus on the big compounds exercises that makes the body move like it was intended to do you'll find these problems before they start causing havoc. My knees, back and right shoulder got fucked up when I started training because I didn't care about this stuff which is why it's so big a part of my training now. I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
