Here's a couple shots of my 'casual successful guy' or classy guy look which is what I wear 90% of the time since I run a business. Dunno why the focus is so fucked up on the blue one but whatever you get the idea.
Girls often tell me I should always tuck in and wear a belt they think it looks classier, I generally always wear it untucked because number one I just hate the feeling of a tucked shirt and number two I think it makes me look less conformist, but then again, the girls in this area are society girls so maybe that's a mistake.
I am not trying to be argumentative, but I can't assume every piece of advise I get on here is pure gold, either. I have to count the advise I get from actual hot girls for something, plus I have no idea if the various people here commenting are really qualified to their opinions or not do I, that's what's tricky about all this isn't it. But don't mistake me, obviously I'm here because I know there's room to improve.
Although I don't doubt there's some good advice about these outfits to be had, and I'm happy to hear it, truly what I really, really want to figure out, is a good "street" look, which is what I'm attmepting with the tank top and chain photo. I think I'm much farther from the mark on this style than I am on the business style, but if you guys disagree I'm all ears.
killtheinnerloser you wear a big chain in your profile pic, can you tell me what it is that makes mine no good vs yours? The chains worn by guys in the video someone posted are all super thin and (to my eyes) girly looking, is that what's in now?
That, and an improved hairstyle. I see one vote for going a lot shorter on the sides, can others weigh in on this? I feel like I'm mostly screwed because I can't really grow it out on top so very few options. Again I want to be cautious of emulating styles that belong on guys in their 20's. Also I'm self conscious about my ears which stick out a lot and shorter hair will accentuate them : p

Me posting this is off topic from the OP, but give credit where credit is due. Podlas, Coolguy, S3nga, Cartagines, Krishna, Pidhar, Mesmerize and a tonne of others have taken advice and put it firmly into action.
"I am not trying to be argumentative, but I can't assume every piece of advise I get on here is pure gold, either. I have to count the advise I get from actual hot girls for something"
First sentence is brilliant. Yep, absolutely - take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt. However, when people who are getting results (Bad Idea Bear, etc) and have posted PROOF of that give advice, at least try it out and see for yourself if it works for you. Vs some guy with 20 posts under his name and no proof he gets laid... don't listen to him as much.
Second part I'm hesitant to agree with. It's usually better NOT to take advice from girls when it comes to getting laid. The only way to know if something is working or not is: Are you getting results? Are you actually getting laid?
killtheinnerloser you wear a big chain in your profile pic, can you tell me what it is that makes mine no good vs yours?
I never said I didn't like the chain in your pic; someone else said that. I like that chain you're wearing (others may disagree). It's your HAIR that's letting you down in that pic. And the tank top looks a little... ghetto? Poor? "Casual" doesn't have to mean "cheap".
I like the pic of you in the red/maroon fitted shirt. It fits well, you look masculine, watch is good. Your hair sucks ass though, it's letting you down (you know this already). Grab some earrings, even just something simple like diamond studs. (ignore girls saying you're "too old for earrings" - that's idiotic. Google "celeb male earrings" and you'll see a shitload of old guys who look good with them. This is why I said not to take women's advice when it comes to getting laid. They'll tell you what THEY PERSONALLY like, as in, her solipsistic opinion. She has no idea what OTHER girls may like.)
Also you keep asking for the "silver bullet" - as in you keep saying "Can you guys just tell me EXACTLY what to wear". We can't really tell you exactly what will look good on you. This is a process of trial and error, of upgrading and improving over time, finding out what suits your looks & what suits your personality.
As Bad Idea Bear pointed out, it's taken him 2 years to get even remotely decent at dressing himself. Same with me - I've taken about 3 years and I'm by no means an expert. I do get called "badboy" and "you dress like a player" etc from girls regularly now. All of that came from making about 100 "fashion faux pas" and slowly improving over time.
If you're getting conflicting advice (I agree you are - some guys saying you dress old, some saying you dress young), then do what I said. Trial and error. Try what one guy said and if you don't like it and don't get results, try what another guy said.
Ok,OP don't compare yourself with the guys here. All of them are younger than you. What works for them will not work for you.
Plus you are the correct age to go full on with sugar daddy game.Hot women/girls are attracted to a good looking, mature man.they are not in for the age but the maturity and experience you can bring to the table.
I would recommend you try the suit game.See if you get any looks and respect from your peers.
one of the biggest mistakes you can do is try to look edgy and hip and blend in with the younger crowd. That looks fails everytime. You are 38 years if I am not mistaken. You are in prime age years for a man.
One guy you can copy is steve carell.18-30 year olds are going gaga over his new looks.
With the widespread popularity of Sugar Daddy sites and 50 Shades of Grey ,you will have it easier than people on this site.
Instead of using Tinder, try Sugar Daddy sites like Seeking Arrangement. You don't have to pay them anything and still get lays.Rooshvforum has a good thread on seeking arrangement game. Its called Salt Daddying.
I don't know where you are located but if you are in NY,LA,Miami,London or any in demand places, you will have a pick of girls.
I still think you will look with a bald and beard look.why don't you try a 90 days experiment and compare the results. Its working very good for me(people are more nice and I get top service wherever I go).
Earrings. Alright then, I'll go get them. I've always wanted them anyway. Plus if they suck it's not like you can't just take them off.
Innerloser, about the tank top looking "ghetto" or "cheap", are you saying all tanks have this look intrinsically, or just the one I'm wearing in particular? Again, I did start wearing them because several girls told me it makes them think about fucking me because my arms look good, I'm having a very hard time considering ignoring that feedback. I'm not looking for a silver bullet per se, but just, more specific advice. "The tank is not working because it looks cheap" is good, but a tip on what to change or add, or what to try instead, would be great.
Haircut. This is the biggest one obviously. Everyone agrees my hair sucks. I've thought the same thing for years but have never been able to get anyone to give me a better idea, including hair stylists. I have NO IDEA what to do about it. I have looked up 'stylish cuts for 30's men' etc. and all those fucking hairstyles are dudes with a ton of hair. When I look up fashionable cuts for guys with thinning hair, they _still_ show guys with lots of hair. Or, they show guys with a haircut pretty much identical to mine. The only advice here so far is someone recommended a fade. Again I'm asking for more input on this. I would've thought this was a 20's style, am I wrong? Any other suggestions?
Sugar daddy game - I know for a fact I'm still young enough good looking enough I don't _need_ to spend money. Lastly, I believe firmly that even if I had plenty of money for it, it would still be a mistake, UNTIL I have completely locked in the ability to get laid WITHOUT it. Relying on money because you have no game is for pussies.
I'm not shaving my head. #1 I did it before and it looked like shit, #2, it's gonna go bald one day anyway, I'll work with that look then : p
I 100% agree women are the WORST people to ask about how to get laid. Fashion advice, however, is the one area they have value IMO. But sure your'e right, they don't all agree on that either obviously. Nonetheless, they are literally genetically superior at recognizing "good" outfits from bad ones than men are, on _average_.
3. Beard. I know, I know, these are extremely in style right now, but I'm _telling_ you, I've dated lots of women who _love_ guys in beards, 100% of the male model guys they follow on instagram all have beards, they beg me to grow mine out, and then, they ask me to shave it right off again. #1, it's white, and #2, it's patchy on the jaw and cheeks. MAYBE if I get better hair on top, that would change this, but I'm telling you, currently, it is not good. I'll make you a deal - we get my hair fixed, then I'll grow it out again and re-evaluate.
4. "one of the biggest mistakes you can do is try to look edgy and hip and blend in with the younger crowd. That looks fails everytime." I know what you are saying and I'll repeat again I AGREE. But I can't go PARTY wearing chinos and a dress shirt! I still go to fucking raves whenever I get a chance, that music is a big part of who I was/am and always will be. I believe it is absolutely possible that I can dress edgy and hip and age appropriate at the same time, in a way that expresses "this guy has a colorful background and might be a little dangerous but he's also not a kid either and knows what the fuck he's doing".
This last part, #4, is what I want help with the most, (besides the hair) so if you guys can post pics of guys my age who pull this off, or point me to instagram dudes my age I can look at, or even links to good online clothing that I can try, anything would be appreciated. I feel that the #1 most important aspect of this, probably, is a relatively plain solid outfit, with good accessories - rings, bracelets, necklaces, whatever.
innerloser also about knowing something is working by getting results, that's right but I'm just trying to put my best foot forward here and get at least this one outfit nailed down for my profile photo session coming up. That costs money and time so I don't want to just wing it and experiment too much, not if I could get some solid suggestions here.
Listen man, tbh it is difficult for the community to give advice on how a 38 year old should dress for a rave/party in humid tampa bay since there are not many folks in here that fit the criteria.
People here keep telling you unsolicited advice for some reason when you keep saying that you are asking specifically for advice on rave/party style for older men but nonetheless some of it is solid advice.
I have no clue as to how older men should dress for a party or even what kind of parties you attend, what is the scene like so this makes it difficult you know?
Do you have any pics from guys you would like to emulate, obviously you are not dressing like steve fucking carrell to a rave. But what kind of look or what kind of style you are trying to emulate/portray?
I agree with the whole wife beater/chain it looks outdated at the least, but who the fuck knows maybe the scene you're into in tampa everyone still wears those.
Helps us with some suggestions, some pics of guys whose style you like and we can all work from there.

Here is my in a tee vs. the tank. It's not that I'm attached to constantly wearing tanks, (although seriously in this heat it really helps) but I do want to figure out a way to make them a good option for changing things up and I believe they do have greater "badass" potential if done correctly so if you guys can help me figure out how to walk that line it would be great. I don't want to just throw out the whole idea of wearing them at all.
Here's a photo of me the year I left the monastary so you can see just how much I had to work against up until this point. Also you can see how I look without hair basically. I was 140lbs. I'm 195lbs now.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
