![]() It's going to be hard quitting games, but I have a made a few babysteps in the right direction. I deleted league of legends and all my other addictive online games. I still have a few of my other games, but I feel very little desire to play them. I find that I am mostly addicted to online games and other things, becuase I didn't have many friends when I was 13-17 (I moved around alot). I'm thinking I'll substitute some of the time that I spent playing games all day with reading and playing guitar. Good news: I just picked up a gym membership, at NY sports Club, through my job for only $20 dollars a month. I have to go to a special work meeting tomorrow morning at 10am, but I am really excited to starting busting my ass in the gym. I picked up some essential foods so I have some stuff to munch on in my quest for strength: Steel cut oats Brown Rice Milk Eggs and a few other things. I'm going to go to the gym tomorrow in the evening. I'm going to use the work out routine from Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. I suppose the most annoying thing about all of this is that I get so excited about the progress that i'm going to see that I lose sight of the things in front of me. I'm almost through week two of the approach anxity program and I already feel a lot more powerful in some ways. I can't wait to blow that high-five drill out of the water. The later drills sound sorta scary though. hahah. |

of course they sound scary- you arent ready for them yet. when the time comes, you will be. i try not to look ahead. last time i did that i panicked lol. but now i've passed those drills and they werent even that hard before you succeed at anything, you must first believe it is possible.

PM- how old are you? I unintentionally quit video games. Scotty did too. It comes down to replacing it with something that you like equally as much and that is more productive (just about anything is). Getting out of the house during the day, going to the beach or book store (to work) and hit on girls make me feel better and not just "occupied". More recent, this entire project made me quit video games. I bought Madden13 last year and only played it a handful of times. It depends on the nature of the game to- Sports games (generally the only ones I played) you can play short little games rather than Final Fantasy/RPG games that literally take thousands of hours. Please no Private Messages. Post thread on with the word "Chris" or "GLL" in it if you absolutely need to get my input. Thank you for your understanding.

Yes, that's defnitely the way to go. I was a hardcorde WoW player for a few years (got like 150days /played), one of the best mages on my server lol. I was the 19th person on my server to hit level 90 after the last expansion came out, played 20 hours straight.
Now I've just developed other interests. Raiding is out of the question because I started bodybuilding where I need my sleep and can't stay up all night. And generally do a lot more stuff which helps me become a better person in the real world, just like I was always wanting to be the best ingame... |

I believe that computer games are just phaze in life, where we are passionate about small challanges (games). After some time we realize that we are ready to move on bigger and more relevant tasks. In my opinion it do less harm than watching television. Besides teach cooperation, english language and logical thinking. Not quite bad for the teenagers. The problem is with overdoing it. I not question it in any ways.
My remedy? 1. Get the full-time job(preferably with overhours). 2. Uninstall everything. 3. Block games/trailers websites. Anyway I think we are not machines and giving yourself a little plesure from watching episode of House of Cards or playing evening in Couter-Strike(one in couple of months) with some buddies is cool experience. And relaxing. Why we should pursue our goals 24h, if constant pursuit doesn't make us happy? *6x3 Full Chin-ups

I'm 24.
I suppose this is my major problem: there isn't anything I love more than video games. I know that sounds really messed up, but it's true. I've never gotten the buzz I get from video games from anything else. I've done all sorts of drugs; I tried my hand at writing (which I enjoy); I read almost daily; I'm currently getting into weightlifting (I had my first session on friday .). I just find that my entire world view has been digitally-formed. I was never quite good with people at a young age and it took me 18 years to really work towards getting out of my shell. I'm 200x more outgoing at this juncture in my life, but it's a little confusing. It's like I'm almost two people. There is that side of me that is completely isolated and loves shelling up and retreating from reality, and then there is this other side of me that loves partying, drinking and socializing. Depending on when you meet me you'll meet one side of myself and not the other. Most of my gamer friends are shocked that I go out as much as I do, and many of my partying friends are shocked that I'm such an introvert at times. I have been significantly cutting my video gaming time and trying to do other things, but I still find myself yearning to turn on my ps3 and play a few games of whatever is around. I probably do about 2 hours daily at this point. It has always been a big struggle for me. |

This link is pretty much you will ever need for quiting video games.
http://kingpinlifestyle.com/how-to-quit-playing-video-games/ I quited video games 10 days ago exactly and its easy going easy for now but i wasnt spending so much time playing them as i used to do earlier. It all pretty much boils down to what Chris said which is: When you finally decide to stop playing video games, you'll end up having a lot more time and you'll be bored, dont know what to do and eventually start playing video games not because you want to, but because you dont have anything to do. Its important to find new hobies and passions to do/go to daily whenever otherwise you would end up wasting your life playing video games. Doesnt matter what it is, taking a walk, running, reading a book, salsa dancing, gym, shoping, but in our case spending time on improving Looks, Style, Social freedom - 3 the most important aspects in getting laid. I was playing video games since i was 5 and now im 24 quited 10 days ago just because i WANTED TO QUIT. All played pretty much everything but the games i played the most are: Counter Strike 1.6 for 5-6 years Dota - Dota2 since first versions until 10 days ago since i quited playing alltogether World of Warcraft for 6 years i guess, even up to 17 hours a day when i was in shool, THIS WAS SCARY! So i pretty much played video games entire my life and quited them 10 days ago. But i wasnt addicted so much in last 2-3 years, i used to play because i didnt know what to do. When i look at my past i wasted all my life playing video games and what did i learn, what did i see helpful, nothing. Absolutely nothing good comes from gaming! It's a 100% waste of life. And boytoy said gaming gives you negativity, its 100% true. All my gamer friends are fucking negative frustrated people. I even gave to my negative friend a video about negative vs positive people from some motivational speaker, he said its bullshit haha ![]() Even when you dont know what to do you will feel better walking in the wall than after playing video games. Dont know why but gaming fills you with frustration and negative energy. When i look at myself now, i changed myself a lot in last 5 years, doesnt matter that im not getting laid YET. Five and a half years ago i was wow addict looked like a zombie, ZERO social skills. Socially retarded actually, AWKWARD. Cant even dare to look at a girl, i had a mindset in my head that im not worth shit, i shouldnt even look at girls. And now im into bodybuilding, got awesome body, healthy life and diets, im MUCH more social, MUCH more confidence and pretty much everything. I watched thousands of self improvement videos from Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, Daren Brown, Famous bodybuilders were inspiration too, Law of attraction... all that mixed shit helped me a lot all together. And on top of that, i found GoodLookingLoser ![]() -dont forget to check that link, its important. And dont worry quiting videos games wont be a problem after you find new hobies. Good luck ![]() |

GODOFROIDZ,
Thanks a lot for the input. That post must have taken a while to type. I will admit, I've had a few relapses, but I recently bought myself a 7-string guitar and i'm loving it. I have been playing guitar for 7+ years and i decided to treat myself to something awesome to commemorate it ![]() I was losing motivation to play, but a friend of mine, who kicks ass at guitar, told me that he thinks I'm more of a guitarist than he is. Wow. I was really surprised by that. He's spent 10,000 dollars producing his album and he thinks i'm a better guitarist? No way. guitar > video games. It's also a cool way to get some positive recognition in my life. |

Haha no problem, im a fast typer ![]() That's very good. Relapses will happen less and less as long as you are finding new hobies that you like. I guess you go back to gaming because you dont have anything to do. Its mostly because you're bored more than because of addiction itself. Guitars are really awesome in my opinion. It will fill you with positivity for sure. What is your music genre? Do you like metal? Imagine if you played guitar entire this time you used to play video games ![]() ![]() |

My experience... been playing games since before I could remember, literally, got pictures I can't remember playing DOOM... my case is a bit different... it's only in the past 3 years that i've REALLY started liking games... but at the same time i play them like 20 times less than i used to... it's just a matter of playing the very best games but much less often
imo the problem most people have is that they don't ACTUALLY like the games they're playing just like most people don't ACTUALLY enjoy the tv shows and movies that they watch... they just do it to kill time... they have no passion or enthusiasm for the "mediums" past the short-run... in which case, there's about a dozen other things they could and should be doing like hitting on girls or exercising or something so you gotta ask yourself... do you REALLY like games? it doesn't even matter the answer... if it's "no" then you can find some other way to kill time... if the answer is "yes", you should be playing FEWER games of HIGHER quality anway... well unless you invite people from school/work to come chill with you or something... met some cool dudes doing this recently lol things that worked for me: -avoid strategy games, tactics games, fighting games, RPG's of any kind, isometric games, RTS games, pretty much any game that lasts more than 3 hours -ALWAYS play them during the night, but never after 2 am... get your rest -if you REALLY can't break the habit... play old arcade games that are over in like 40 minutes... play them on the hardest difficulty... try not to get too mad lol... do something else once you're done throwing your control across the romm -absolutely no ONLINE games ever!!! absolutely no Counterstrike, starcraft, warcraft, DOTA, COD, TF2, HALO!!! single player is da best anyway ![]() -delete all game sites from your web history, BLOCK them if you can... this was big for me -stop using Steam... i'm pretty sure it sets off some weird psychological cues or something... i prefer ThePirateBay entertainment system hahaha What is the seal of liberation? — No longer being ashamed of oneself.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
