My father. Seeing the young black men who's lives he's changed just because he cared is behind everything I do academically and socially. Plenty of fatherless young men have earned degrees, played ball overseas, and become great fathers by following his example. I value how you influence others to be better than they thought possible and I've never seen anyone do that better than him.
My mother was married at 16, divorced with 2 kids by 22. She put herself through college with no help or encouragement from her family. She retired as a principal. Not a bad ending for a "welfare queen". She told me a story about being dirt poor and having ground beef (quite a luxury when you've been eating beans and rice all of the time). She was going to make spaghetti with meat sauce for my brother and sister on Friday as a treat. She leaves it out to defrost and their pet cat eats it. The cat was smart enough to not come home for a few days because he would've been dinner.
I learned everything I needed to learn from them and never had to look outside of my living room for role models.

Just came across this thread and it is an interesting question. I think mine are as follows.

Mike Rashid

My Dad - built a 6 figure business in the 1980s as a black man who came to America with nothing from a poor Nigerian village with my Mom

My Mom - Dads business partner. Hustled to build their wealth empire while my Dad focused on his craft.

Older Brother - Created and Runs a start up that delivers moderate speed to internet to low income areas of the USA for very low prices. Created a very lucrative business model and They make insane profit margins. But they know growing tech will push them out of the market in a couple years so they capitalizing now.

Best Friend from College - Great physique. Good with girls but not really a player. Started a 6 figure personal training business in Miami and an amazon FBA business on the side.

That is all I can think of for now. My role models are more geared towards business, mindset, and physique since those are two goals at the moment.
