Anyone research or try sensory deprivation tanks? I thought these were fairy bullshit type things, but Joe Rogan swears by it in his podcast with Tim Ferris. Here is one of the popular places in So. Cal and the user reviews say it’s an incredible experience:

@ Turtle: will do....once I come back from outer space.
@ Captain: I am hairy enough, so I got the ape shit covered.... "In a number of recent videos on YouTube and his own podcast, American stand-up comedian and television celebrity Joe Rogan describes his personal experiences with isolation tanks and shares his insights into using them for various purposes, such as exploring the nature of consciousness and improving health and well being." "A therapeutic session in a flotation tank typically lasts between an hour to an hour and a half. For the first forty minutes, it is reportedly possible to experience itching in various parts of the body (a phenomenon also reported to be common during the early stages of meditation). The last twenty minutes often end with a transition from beta or alpha brainwaves to theta, which typically occurs briefly before sleep and again at waking. In a float tank, the theta state can last indefinitely without the subject losing consciousness. Many use the extended theta state as a tool for enhanced creativity and problem solving or for super learning. The more often the tank is used the longer the theta period becomes." 4/1/13: Body Stats- 5'11", 190 lbs., mesomorph, muscular body, no abs (20% BF), doing GLL Fat Loss Diet

I floated in June for the first time. It was an oasis tank... Probably 10'x5'. It was fairly inexpensive at $50 for a session.
Basically I had a hard time shutting my body down. Breathing immidiatley became a conscious effort and learning to let your head leave its natural position of eyes straight ahead to neck relaxed and head rolled back was difficult to get use to. If you plan on doing it alot and you know how to put your body in the zone I can see how it could be rewarding. When I finally DID relax I had about 30 minutes of absolute peace. The experience itself wasnt as notable as how I felt afterwards... Colors seemed fresh. Air was clean. I had a new energy and it lasted all day. While I was in the tank I didnt experience anything that you would think of as typical. I had faint dreams that seemed slightly more vivid. I also managed to focus on individulal problems more in my head since there was fewer distractions except the constant salt water in my eyes and mouth lol. All in all it was a good experience but not something for me. If your in to that hippie shit It can be very rewarding but for me, I like to tackle life in a different perspective. |

Those things have fantastic potential, IF you like stuff like that. Heard only good stuff about it. I'll definitely try that out as soon as I get the chance to. No deprivation tanks in my area though, have to wait for my next trip to the US.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
