I'd hold off on buying assets any time soon. Keep liquid.
We're about to have some serious deflation, and some people think that could last a long time (ala the Great Depression). But the good news is America (and Europe) will be on sale. If you've got cash, it's gonna be a great time to be alive.

Agreed with Julian. Some people say you can't time the markets, but a 7-year run (from the March 2009 lows until now) is a sign that risk assets (stocks mostly) are due to deflate for a while. I think January was the bell ringing that we're due for a rocky year. Overdue, actually! Without boring everyone with a tour of the historical gyrations of the S&P 500....let's just say after 7 years it's time for a nice deep correction.
However....gold, silver, and gold miners (easily bought via symbols GLD, SLV, GDX) have been on sale for several years (since around August 2011). That particular bear market appears to be ending. *This* is a place you could put some money to work, but don't buy your whole stake at once. It's a very volatile sector. |

It's a good place to put your money. No banks involved, no stock market volatility, etc..
But again---hold off. When the stock market bubble pops, the real estate bubble will follow suite. It always lags. The FED has been artificially propping up the housing sector since 08. That bitch is coming down like a crack whore off a high. We're already dipping into deflation with ZERO INTEREST RATES. It's crazy. Buckle up and prepare for the ride is all I can say.

I worked a finance internship (more like a part time position) on an energy desk for a trading firm in Chicago. I own CVX, NOC, ETP, HRS, and very recently added VLO and COP (I don't really fuck with anything outside of energy and industrials, those are the two sectors I worked with and know best, also materials but they are getting hammered right now because of the commodities route.) I think this is a fantastic time to buy refineries(VLO, COP) in this low oil environment (simply put, low oil=cheaper refining cost, improved margins). Those are just the qualitative factors of course there's a lot more to it once we start talking numbers. If anyone would like to learn more, feel free to pm me and I'd be happy to try explain in further detail.

ETP great right now also, major aquisition (Williams, another pipeline company) back in November that allowed them to expand their pipeline network to reach the entire contiguous US.

I suggest you read this www.amazon.com/Technical-Analysis-Financ...s=technical+analysis & this www.amazon.com/Stan-Weinsteins-Secrets-P...006MB3GV1G2YSSV0M7QD This is a good time to buy short, there's a lot of money to be made, but if you don't know what you are doing, you'll lose all your money, guaranteed. Also, try getting metastock, it's pricey but well worth it, in my opinion. |

Yes, but the real problem would be being certain that the crash really is over. I suggest you learn how to read charts and analyze american house prices charts and calculate how much, percentage wise, prices decrease after every crash so you can have a somewhat clear idea of when the crash is close to be over. |

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
Kratom is next!
