All martial arts can be used to benefit a you in a street fight, in reality the best fighters in a street fight are the ones that say calm and rational,
wingchun teaches hand coordination, tkd can teach you how to throw a proper kick, the best fighter takes things from many different arts and combine them into their arsenal, that's why guys like george st piere are so effective he has trained in many different arts and knows what works and what doesn't work, I would never dedicate myself solely to one art Everyone who wants to learn how to fight should find the closest mma gym its one of the most general ways that can teach you how to fight. Doesn't matter what art you take though if you let your emotions get the better of you when it actually comes time to figt then all your lessons will be pointless. |

I took boxing for about a month.. had to stop because I couldn't afford it anymore (pretty expensive.. 40 dollar gym membership and the lessons were 20$ for 30 minutes. bundles even more.. a few hundred a month)
Anyways.. what I learned in that short amount of time did carry over a bit to a street fight I had later on..Like you have a nanosecond to think/react and it kinda just comes out of you when ur scrapping. I guess your body gets conditioned to the traning.. or its your "fighting" memory. kinda like muscle memory I guess i dunno. Why do you want to learn martial arts though? I'm not tryna be giving you advice or think I know a lot of street shit/vioelence (only heard stories and seen stuff) but REAL street fights are never clean. People use weapons. knives, bottles, wrenches other blunt objects guns? and its usually never even a 1v1 2v1 2v2 or w/e. It ends up being like 15 people jumping 4 other dudes. I remember a few a while back at some club I used to go to.. some guys got into shit with some other guys and the other guys "backed down" .. "tucked their tales" apologized and went "home".. it was all a front because they actually came back to the club and shot up those same guys. the fukced up part is the bullets hit one of their girlefriends and she died. Of course they got caught but it just goes to show you never know who your fucking with. Theirs wolves in sheeps clothing out there.. espcially here in Los Angeles. Just saying.. |

I'm going to start Krav Maga, because from what I've seen it's the best self defense martial art.
As BlueStart said people in street fights might use knives and then you're fucked with just boxing unless of course you're quick enough. In Krav Maga you are taught from the first week how to defend yourself against knives, guns etc. |

Yup, I do Krav Maga and I feel super fuckin confident and don't mind calling anyone out on their shit at night as I know one solid elbow will knock them dead to the ground. They teach you how to get out of hostage situations with knives, guns, and even long guns like AK-47s. You will still learn how to strike in Krav but it will come over time as choke defenses get emphasized first. Ground fighting is also taught. I think you made a good decision. |

I'm moving to thailand in october and have always wanted to learn martial arts for greater self-confidence.
I've really noticed as I've made more money in the world and grabbed more of what I want, I've had a lot more confrontation coming from other people. Anyone ever train muay thai in thailand? I'm hoping its cheap. I'll be in chiang mai.

I did four years of boxing in my teens. It made me comfortable and confident enough to where other guys never fucked with me. Now I do mma (bjj + muay thai).
I've head that Krav Maga is deadly and I want to get into that. Of course, the most non-bullshit self-defense path you can take as a man is to be armed. I'd like to get a permit and carry a .44 mag. |

PMSL at ‘Segal’, please, if you have not been in a fight, and used these things, (which you have not, because they don’t work), then it is dangerous to suggest to others that they do.
I worked in real life situations with some top level ‘Martial Arts’ guys, and overall they were poor. Read some stuff by Geoff Thompson, he has multiple Dan grades in multiple martial arts, but he also worked as a Bouncer for 10yrs, so knows what works, and even as a top martial arts guy, he is honest about the reality of combat. From the looks of it he deserved it for hitting the girl, but it's idiotic to infer anything about MMA from a couple of youtube videos. |

thank you. if you honestly think steven segals hollywood martial arts would work against a strong, fast proffessional fighter, then i humbly request some of whatever youre smoking before you succeed at anything, you must first believe it is possible.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
