Hello good looking losers. Having posted in the pof section and receiving very helpful feedback, I was recommended to the style section to seek advice on my current 'edginess' which I am striving for.
My style has always been shite although it did greatly improve (not saying a lot but relatively) around 2011. 2013 onwards I want to maximize my style: now during my time off (I work several weeks offshore at a time) I try new garments on at stores and get passersby (girls) to take pictures. Here are the results from my latest style shopping trip. I had dozens of pictures taken but narrowed it down to the most photogenic photos captured. ![]() Leather jacket, white shirt and dark grey levi jeans with pointy black shoes. This is my new everyday winter look - an outfit that I personally love although I admit I have yet to feel totally comfortable wearing the jacket. No accessories just yet to edgyify it further. ![]() Same idea with a black tie added. I got two girls sitting at Starbucks to take the pic - not a great pic and less than flattering imo but it shows the style which is the aim here. ![]() At a recent party - new waist jacket taking a leaf from GLL's layering advice in the 2013 winter style articles. ![]() New ted baker jacket that I loved - it took hours to finally decide on this one at the house of fraser. The converse leather shoes are old ones but still pretty cool being black/white leather I think. I bought two pairs of levi jeans - light grey and dark - it will be a nightmare to wash them but I just fell in love with them. So what do you think? I think as a not tall not short man (5'8') with average/less than average facial features edginess should be prioritized over the safe clean look GLL recommends to tall good looking guys. I have yet to really get down to business with accessories but after reading GLL's style articles inside out, I have a feeling this is a good start. Feedback is very welcome, this is a work in progress and I hope to keep improving to my maximum potential with your help and feedback as well as my own experiences. Age 32 Cheeks clapped: 65+

Props for working on your style. I'm no expert but I'd like to see a little more color. The outfits are pretty monochromatic - grey and black and white. I like the vest. Hopefully some of the stylish losers will chime in with more input. BTW - I think you smile too much. Its hard to to be edgy when you have a perpetual "nice guy" smile. Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

First outfit: No
Second outfit: Maybe without the jacket, different shoes, and some tattoos. Third outfit: Yes, better. Add some accessories and a crazier/hipper hair cut. Fourth outfit: No. I'd actually try growing a light beard if I were you. See how it looks. Grow your head hair out more as well. I'm thinking something that's long, layered, and spikey. Almost punk rockish. If you're going to wear that Ted Baker jacket, don't zip it up. |

Hey MD,
Yeah I am always being told to smile more as I usually look like a miserable bastard! That is probably why my smiles look fake or nice-guy. Either way it is something I need to work on for sure. This was my sort of style last year as I was just starting to begin to get a clue: ![]() Less nice-guy? ![]() If you think that is bad, check out my 'style' 2 years ago: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quite a contrast I think! No wonder I didn't get laid. But hopefully these pictures get across just how serious my approach to style is now. Age 32 Cheeks clapped: 65+

You have a very round face. I think you'd look a lot better with longer hair. Something with height on the top, but shorter on the sides.

Thanks Ethan for the response - it is very much appreciated. It would seem the leather jacket was a massive waste of money then. What sort of shoes would you recommend? N-trainers? What about the jeans? Surely they can't be a waste of money also? Tattoos I've been considering a lot lately but it is certainly one of those things I would want to do because I love tattoos - not to get laid. I don't want them because in the future I may hate them and there would always be a scarring reminder. I don't have the genes to grow a beard - that bum-fluff tuft is likely the best I will ever get. I have been looking into long hair styles but as my hair is thinning and set to fall out I am focusing on anti-hairloss shampoos. I ascertained long ago that the worst thing that could happen to me - someone with a small round face like mine - is going bald. Any particular hair dos you could link me to that you think would be a possibility for my face shape? Age 32 Cheeks clapped: 65+

Your style has improved for sure, but ill be honest I think it still needs to change. I dont see much edge in it, also get different shoes. But as others have said props for striving for improvement.

Okay. For your facial hair, if you can't grow a beard, I'd say keep the facial hair on your chin. Although keep it just on the tip of your chin. Don't let it grow too far up like in the third picture where you're wearing the vest.
I agree, don't get tattoos just to get a tattoo, but consider it. Trust me, I'm not one to rush into things like that either. I've been thinking about a tattoo for the past five years and only now have finally decided to get one. (I'm getting it in about three weeks.) I think your biggest problem is that you need to find a style. The look you have now isn't really a look. It's just a couple pieces of clothing that don't go together and don't create a coherent style. I like to think in terms of stereotypes. People dress differently based on their hobbies and identity. You can tell a surfer from a biker from a rock star from a business man based on how they dress. You need to figure out what fashion identity you're going for. You can tell a guy is a rapper based on how he dresses, but right now you really don't look like anybody. You just have clothes. Do you see what I mean? When you look at outfits, you can tell who the person is (or is trying to portray themselves as) based on how they dress. Right now, your outfit has no identity, so you're portraying yourself as a nobody. I don't mean for that to sound harsh, but that's how fashion works. So tell me, if you had to have an identity that you wanted to portray to people, what would it be? Chris intentionally does the "meathead douchebag" look with tight graphic t shirts and a bandana. I do more of a badboy look with a motorcycle jacket, jeans, boots, etc. You will probably do something else. So tell me, who are you, and what identity do you want to portray to girls? The identity you choose to portray is going to influence all your other style choices from your hair to your shoses. Rappers and business men don't wear the same shoes. |

Hi Ethan,
Ok I see your point and it does make a lot of sense. I really wish I had such advice before I bought all these clothes. Its so funny because when I wear these clothes, I do feel like a nobody - like I have zero sex appeal at all - like I just don't fit in whatsoever. I read GLL's older style articles on shirts and pants and tried to calibrate what I bought to what he recommended e.g. grey jeans that go with anything, edgy leather jacket and fashionable skinny ties. Choosing a style has always been a problem for me. I could never really do the meathead Chris Deodes look because I don't have masculine physical characteristics and would have to take steroids to become noticeably muscular (even when I was a powerlifted with a 540lb deadlift I still looked as thin as I did now although very ripped). I can't do TRT because I work offshore. I can't do the surfer dude look because of my head/face shape I think. I can't do the geek look because obviously girls hate that. Out of all the styles maybe the dark clothed, biker/bad boy look may be something for me to follow. Honestly having a certain 'look' that can be used to pidgeon-hole me is actually something I've been trying to work out for years but I just don't know. If you guys could just take a look at me - my body, my face shape, my characteristics - and possibly recommend a decent 'look' that would go most well with my genetics - possibly some where to look for the clothes too. I am planning to launch myself fully into the AA Program as the final step before I try and get my first lay. However, I cannot do so until my style has reached a sufficient degree of competency. My style, social skills, teeth and hair need to be sorted out first. I think I have the body thing sorted out but I'll let you be the judge: ![]() Age 32 Cheeks clapped: 65+

Idan - I like that pic of you in the bar with the blond with big tits. Great smirk - you look like a confident cad.
Off topic - that's a serious deadlift. Nice work! Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Okay. There's no point reinventing the wheel. I'll have you try an outfit that I wear sometimes. Go to a store that has all these pieces, then put them on and take a picture of the outfit so I can see. Make sure each of the pieces fit. Almost every guy wears sizes that are too big for him. If it feels a bit tighter than you're used to, that's good.
Try these pieces on: Dark blue, slim fitting jean. (not tight or skinny, but slim) ![]() Black blazer ![]() White t shirt with wide neck ![]() Grey wool cap ![]() Long leather necklace ![]() Plain black leather shoes. Not bulky. ![]() The outfit should end up looking something like this, only with a necklace, wool cap, and blue jeans rather than black. ![]() |

^^^^ Damn Ethan those pieces are cool!!!!
![]() I might have to ask you for some personal style advice some time. @ Idan To find your style, find what your passionate about/ how you act and go from there. Your body is good. Your DL is dope too. Since you have a good body. Try fitted tees, henley shirts etc. Go to stores like Express, H&M, Macys, Bloomingdales, Zara Go for darker colors like black. The buttondown shirts are good improvements, but fitted thermals add some edginess. & Black Boots would help too. Just a Regular Mutherfucker

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
