Usually blackheads mean oily skin Blackheads on the nose are tough since they are genetic. Basically your large pores fill up with oil and sebum and it oxidizes and turns black. Biore strips, blackhead extractor tools, peel off masks and the suction devices help empty the pores only to get filled up again after a week. Start with a standard regimen of washing your face with a WASHCLOTH or clarisonic facial spinning brush and use salicylic acid/glycolic acid to control oil. Toner on cotton pads are clutch too. Lots of gunk comes off even after washing and witch hazel and salicylic acid helps keep oil production down. The Ordinary Niacinimide serum after toner is good for the oil too. Use hyaluronic acid to moisturize so your skin doesn't produce oil for moisture. Start addressing oil consistently for 3 months and then stuff like dermapenning to smooth out texture later on after that PM ME if I don't catch your @Wood thread

@op: woodisgood gave you several options for removal. Biore strips are the easiest. And on the redness, as a quick fix, you can apply a little concealer.
@woodisgood: surprised you mentioned using a washcloth. I used to use them but read (and felt) that they tend to irritate the skin from being too abrasive when scrubbing. I'll use one every once in a while (now patting instead of scrubbing) to rinse off, but what's the difference? Especially with using the cotton pad with toner afterwards. I'd also recommend exfoliating 2x per week, which I also do with a cotton pad. Lot of gunk comes off. Honestly, I can't say that any of that has done much difference to my nose though. Blackhead extractor after an aztec clay mask is the only thing that really does it, but it's of course temporary relief. 2020 Goals: A] 0/2 work projects completed; B] 8.4/9.0 photofeeler attractiveness; C] 200/180 lbs squat, 185/180 lbs bench, 300/200 lbs deadlift.

I have a ton of "black heads" on my nose... Think they're actually sebaceous fillaments but nothing has removed them as of yet. There's too many to use an extractor tool. I've tried two types of biore strips, exfoliating, opening pores then applying indian clay mask, leaving glycolic acid on my nose, even a vacuum blackhead extractor. The only thing that has really removed them is an extractor or squeezing them, but this is not recommended as there are usually too many blocked pores and you can damage the skin (plus, the "black heads come back in a few days). Not really sure what to do with these... some people think you're dirty when in fact you may just have a more oily skin type.

Yeah, irritation is one of the reasons why I didn't use washcloths before. I tend to use chemical exfoliants more than physical because it's easy to overdo it. Some skin is more irritated than others, but I get pretty irritated when I shave (sensitive) and have not noticed anything but clearer skin since using washclothes. I do them maybe 3x a week when I feel like I need to clean deeper. I think the advantage of a washcloth is that you can lather up your cleanser and gently wipe in circular motions or against gravity. My skin feels cleaner and looks shinier when I use a "use once" washcloth. Just stopping the use of reusable loofahs or sponges may help as well by eliminating bacteria PM ME if I don't catch your @Wood thread

@wood, by "use once" do you mean using a face wipe?
I was thinking recently about giving microfiber a try. I realized my old wash cloths are a pretty rough material. But honestly I'm pretty happy with my skin right now. Microneedling is really helping remove the toothpick acne scars I had (the larger ones aren't obviously better yet tho). 2020 Goals: A] 0/2 work projects completed; B] 8.4/9.0 photofeeler attractiveness; C] 200/180 lbs squat, 185/180 lbs bench, 300/200 lbs deadlift.

Use once I mean use washcloth and then put on drying rack (no mildews) and then bleach. Guys get lazy and use multiple times and you are doing more damage than help with moisture induced bacteria. For my skin, I actually prefer the semi-rough material after avoiding them for years. I've tried microfiber and they don't really absorb like cotton. Exact kind I use (TUXEDO): amzn.to/2Int44i Don't over do it with the pressure, fingertips. It should glide more than scrub with a couple pumps of lathered soap. The point of the towel is to absorb oil/wring out and keep the soap on your face and not have water just splash it off. Also, you gotta follow with a semi acidic salicylic acid/diluted apple cider vinegar toner. Most of the irritation is fostering bacteria especially at follicles. Try with salicylic acid cleanser for a week (cerave sa is cheap and good for most skin types). Hydrogen peroxide on a cotton pad is also a way to make sure bacteria is gone after physical exfoliation PM ME if I don't catch your @Wood thread
