After reading few threads here I see that me and few other guys have still a problem with nailing the style down.

We are "fashion-deaf" and need to be told specifically what would look good on us. This gave me an idea for a challenge:

Person gets assigned by others a picture of an instagram model who resembles that person or whose style would - according to others - would look very good on that person. Arguably that person has to "greenlight" the choice as well. We don't want anyone to be forced to wear something he doesn't like after all. Also the pics preferably wouldn't be to "out there" - it should be something that can be worn without feeling like peacocking. ;)

After that it will be a task of that person to replicate AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE the chosen/assigned picture. At the end we all rate the effort and maybe suggest some further changes/improvements

Why would we do that? First of all - it's fun and it's more specific (and thus more motivational) than just plain "dress better" advice. Second of all, it would force us to buy/rent/steal some items that we wouldn't usually buy, but which would be a great addition to our overall style. Third of all, it would force us to analyze instagram model pictures IN DEPTH which might result in better fashion taste at the end of the challenge. Even rating other peoples efforts would be good learning opportunity, since we would see what works and what doesn't in practice.

Specific rules can be still discussed. Would anyone be interested in something like this?

I agree that giving "dress better" advice is a bad way of doing things.

I like your challenge but I can't participate because I'm too poor and busy right now. I wouldn't mind putting up pictures of myself, however, to get instagram recommendations. I don't use instagram but I wouldn't mind doing some research to give others recommendations or advice as well.

I've been very casually putting together a fashion folder. Here's a link:

I was wondering if we could perhaps create a drive (like my one) for fashion?

That would be far more convenient and faster than going through GLL fashion posts (which are only about 10 images per post and not well organized). So, instead of like you said "dress better" advice, we can provide new users a link with examples of good and bad fashion taste and also general info on fashion. I think this idea could be integrated with your challenge idea as well. We could have competition folder with user faces blurred and an archive of resources people found useful?

Anyway, this is just a random idea I just had.

That Google Drive idea is great. One thing it needs (and that I can contribute) is specific brands/stores that have good clothes. Personally, I'm big on Cotton On, H&M, Forever 21, Men's Wearhouse, and Urban Outfitters.

Yeah, the idea is pretty simple too. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do. So I organized my original google drive a little bit. Here's the link to the google drive:

The link gives editing options, so you all can add photos and create folders. I think that's how this works?

So for the instagram challenge, it's literally a matter of dumping all the pictures into one folder because even if 10 people were to participate that's not a lot of photos overall and that can be sorted by editing pictures names.

Your stuff can go into the shopping folder. I have a few things that I'd like to add to that as well.

I personally like that a lot. It's simple but that's what I need right now probably.

I only have 2 problems. Photo is kind of low resolution and highly contrasty so I have some problems with seeing the details of the outfit. I also hate the shoes. But if others will tell me to go with it, I will.

Btw, does anyone know any instagram people that look like me? The picture attached is me 2 years ago; the only real diff is that my hairline has receded a little bit. I'm not doing the challenge until I get a job, I'm just curious if there's anyone I could follow in the meantime.
