Dag wrote: Your guide talks about 3 different main styles:
Rugged Man = Tough guy(Jean and leather jacket)
Refined Man,= Rich guy (luxory classy clothing)
Rakish Man = Edgy guy (simple with accessories)
I feel more comfortable with Rugged, but I believe Rakish is more attractive to most woman.
I would like to know your insight.
First of all,its not my guide. Its Tanner Guzy guide. He came up with the concepts.
second, they are not fully dependent on the clothes. Its basically an attitude towards life, women and clothes and other stuff.
third,In the guide Tanner mentions that everybody is a mix of all three character types and they should be wearing their clothes based on the situation.
Suppose you are about to close a 7 figure deal with a client, you won't be walking to his office in ripped jeans and v-neck shirt. You will be in a suit.
Also, one thing I am observing is all the young people on this forum gravitate towards rakish style but people a bit older want rugged and refined styles with an occasional rakish style options in their wardrobe.
And yes, Rakish is more attractive to women. For example, Johnny Depp(rakish/Jack Sparrow) vs Henry Cavill(Superman/Rugged+refined) vs Tom Cruise or James Bond(Refined).

I’ve been following Tanner for a while and have consumed most of his content and books.
Your mix of archetypes is your breakdown of how you interact with the world, and how you demonstrate this through your clothing depends on context.
Your idea of tough guy vs rich guy vs edgy guy is somewhat synonymous to the archetypes but the types of clothes each archetype wears is not that simple. There’s no rugged, refined or rakish “style”, there are rugged, refined and rakish people who demonstrate this through their style (within context).
For example, Connor McGregor wearing expensive luxury suits during UFC conferences is a much bigger communication of his rakishness than his refinedness. In a context where everyone else wears sponsored sports clothes etc he’s signalling he completely rejects this and is embracing standing out to an extreme degree more than anything else.
A key thing of Tanner’s philosophy is using your appearance as a tool to reach your goals. The archetypes are mainly strategies to portray an authentic image of yourself to the rest of the world. If you are primarily rugged and demonstrate this to others in your clothing, you will reap the benefits of other people assuming you have masculine traits associated with rugged men without having to demonstrate the traits themselves. Women who like rugged men will be more attracted to you from the outset. Other rugged men will see you as one of them without you having to prove it. And then when you actually interact with people beyond first impression they can see from your personality that you indeed are rugged and your image is authentic. So the style acts as a way to speed up communicating to others you have these traits.
If your goal is to have 1 night stands with as many women as possible it may not be a good strategy to be authentic to your archetype, and that’s fine, there’s nothing immoral about it. The GLL community has found through experience a style that maximises your chances of fucking as many women as quickly as possible. This works because to the majority of women who are dtf (mostly younger, westernised women) this style represents a douchebag who they can fuck quickly, and portraying that helps you get laid with them since from before you even interact with them they assume you have the traits of a douchebag who will fuck them good. The other aspect is that communicating this image externally also helps you internalise that image, when you’re dressed like a GLL douchebag you feel like a GLL douchebag which will help your interaction with women even more. So for the purpose of this goal, dressing like this may well be more beneficial than dressing to communicate ruggedness.
His ultimate point is your appearance has the potential to aid you in reaching your goals, and you’d be a fool not to take advantage of this - something the GLL community has been preaching for years.
