Yesterday I had my consultation. The quote was about 2 x four hour sessions. $600-1200 dollars.
The first session is next Thursday!
The next maybe Saturday or a week later.
This is on my left inner forearm down to my wrist. The upper half is a gargoyle lion with Ruby gemstone eyes and colored gold with yellow and chrome ink. Lots of shading.
Then from the lion down to my wrist is what he calls Victorian calligraphy. He will fill in any length with stuff from some book he has on Victorian calligraphy. He will be tattooing the darker part and the lighter part will be skin. Alot of shading too.
Attached is the blank canvas and my reference photos. What do you guys think?
Have you seen any of his previous work...
Do you think he can pull it off and make it all blend together smoothly?
I think you should pay no more than 900 for that size and detail of the tattoo.
Shading is what takes the longest... But since you have a lighter skin tone the color will catch faster, and shouldn't take as long as a person darker than you.
The forearm is easily one of the less painful places to get a tattoo done, so you should be good.
The after care is extremely important, it basically decides how well the color will keep and how good it heals.
Yes checking the shops portfolio and his personal portfolio he's the best of 4 at this shop. He can do photo realism and pretty much anything else. I 100% trust his abilities. He made it sound like 600-800 was more the ideal. He's just being safe.
If anyone cares about details he measured my arm to be 5" wide at the top 3.5"wide at the wrist and 10" long.
Had my second session last week. Picture is the day after. Added the extension down to my wrist.
First he lined it this time. This actually stung a little in some spots. I came about as close to passing out as you can without passing out. He said he has never seen it in 15+ years. I was 100% blind but almost completely awake. He gave me a sugar mint and a soda. 10mins late and we were good to resume. The tendons in the wrist just cause alot more endorphins to be released I suppose. I had ate 3 bowls of oatmeal with chocolate almond/cashew milk and peanut butter. Apparently that wasn't enough or the right kind of food.
Total time this session 4 hours. $300
I have my 3rd session on Nov 27. Will lightly fill in shading on the wrist portion, fade the edges and blend into lion. The lion shading will be finished and then colored yellow. Eyes and mouth red. Estimated 4 hrs $300-400
11/30 Had another 4 hour session and he only charged $300 again because he was having vehicle trouble and had to move the time.
Did some blending. And started filling in the lion. Hoping we will finish in the next session. Maybe not...but definitely the 5th.
@ajax he was very reluctant to take any tip at all. He prefers a larger overall tip after the final session.
@rousseau like I said it was mainly the wrist tendons. Not so much pain, just that aggitating them seemed to really trigger endorphins.
Oatmeal was not the right kind of food. I'd recommend a large meal a couple hours before and to bring sugar rich candy/drink because The endorphins will trigger glycogen release and that will spike your insulin and lower youre blood sugar. This was particularly bad for me because I'm hypoglycemic.
When I got my forearm made I sat through 5 hours straight no food, only some water rofl It was not a problem for me, but when I was done after the 5 hours it felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat - I was fucked for the next 3 days tapped the fuck out of energy, it was a strange feeling

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
