It's been over six months since I had my hair cut, and close to a year since I had anything taken off the top,
Just to give you an idea of the length (sorry about the no shirt):
I normally have it pinned back like this:
but it doesn't look great at the back (not a good angle for me, haha)
I've got a haircut booked at the salon this coming week, and I was wondering what I should ask for. I grew it out to this length, because I thought I could put it into a top-knot or something, but I don't know if that style is still cool.
I would ask for what I got last time, which was a number 2 on the back and sides with a fade and nothing off the top, but my girlfriend tells me she hates the look where it's short at the sides and long at the top, and she'll only let me get one that's a fairly even length I got her to agree that I could have a much more rapid fade at the sides (2 at the bottom, 4 in the middle, 8 at the top, with a trim on top), but otherwise it should be either the same length, but trimmed into an actual style, or all cut short.
What suggestions do you guys have?
(By the way, I do still retain absolute power over my haircut, so I'll happily go with whatever you say; I'd just like to take my girl's preferences into account a bit. But please answer this question the way you'd answer if I were a single guy.)
I am in the same boat, I have long hair, like 2 times longer. My girl is a hair stylist actually and when my hair was as long as yours is now she took the liberty to cut it all off and I was pissed and hated the way I looked. Took me almost 10 months to get back to where I liked it. Not good for my confidence.
I gotta say, I hate the way it looks on you pulled back, just keeping it real. I also think the fade is a bad idea. With that said, your hair isnt super curly, so I think your best bet is the last picture that CoolGuy sent. When my hair was at that length I got a lot more attention than I do now with that same style.
The one thing thing i'd recommend is that if you plan to keep going longer, that you have her use some thinning shears on it to keep the weight down, and keep it from getting puffy until it gets all one length. I can send a few photos of my hair at different lengths to show the difference it makes in how approachable I am. It totally makes a world of difference in how aggressive I look.
Why I started growing my hair out, is that shorter hair and military cuts are more relatable to ufc and military guys, who tend to treat girls like shit. This is just a personal opinion tho.
Lastly, the if your hairstylist is a female, there is a good chance she does mostly womens hair, which is kind of a problem (my girl doesnt do mens hair, and not very well when she does due to lack of experience). If you can get into a certified barber you will get better results, just make sure its not some old fuck that isnt up to date on trendy hair, you will get butchered and they will most likely cut it too short. Id check out their instagram before I let them cut it, to see how much experience they have cutting mens hair like that, you could get a way better cut depending on who does it and how well invested they are in education.
A surfer cut seems to be the way to go, at least for the time being.
Sick stick: I'd be interested to see those pictures. My girl and I are going to the place together, and it's already booked, but I checked their instagram and there were a fair few pictures of men's haircuts on there. I can PM you the link if you're interested.
You can see how much my weight fluctuates in these photos, but I am placing them in order from length. The solid red shit was after my hair cut got cut and I hated it. Last two I just took for the post, I am kinda at a crossroads of what I want to do, and desperately needing to get hit with the thinning shears.
So I am having a really hard time loving the way I look with this long ass hair, because I am just not sure what to do about this scruffy ass facial hair. Any suggestions? The plan is to grow my hair out and rock this look of the guy with longer hair than mine.
What will help me to look not so trashy, shave it, trim it? I dont shave much because I honestly dont know what to do and its its killing my aura.
So Im gonna post the same reply to you as the other guy with the long-ish hair. This is me, compare it and consider a haircut.
In my opinion, you need to be really masculine or good looking to be able to pull off long hair, or have really quality hair. Only very few guys can pull that off... dont shoot yourself in the leg by looking more feminine than you need to
I always tell the girl whos giving me a haircut to make it as short as possible at the back, and can be slightly longer on the sides, but also really short and faded. The top can be longer (If I dont use hairgel, my hair go all the way to the middle of my nose - but no one would guess, cause I have it combed back and faded from all sides)
That gives the illusion to your face that your hair is healthy and has volume, and it compensates for a round face, so it makes u look more masculine. I look really unattractive without a hairstyle and with shaved face

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
