Hey guys, I'm a bit stumped when it comes to cool fashion for a college black male(19yo). I'm looking for ideas, stereotypes or celebrities to base my style on. Rather avoid the rapper style of dressing with $200+ sneakers if I can. On the brightside I plan to get Usher's haircut -
The thing that a lot of guys do wrong with fashion is that they don't have an fashion identity in mind that they want to portray. They just grab random pieces of clothing that they think look good and put them together. What I mean by 'fashion identity' is that people dress in different ways based on what identity they want to portray. Skaters dress one way. Businessmen dress another way. Muscle-heads dress another way.
So the first key to creating a fashion for you is to learn a little bit more about your identity. Who are you? What identity do you want to portray to people? Surfer? Musician? Badboy? Businessman? Rocker? What?
I'll go for the Badboy look. I talked to a female friend and she said I have that mystery around me and I'm not an entertainer like other people. Its more like I sit back and let others do the entertaining. She also said bright colors like orange and yellow make me look darker than I am. That darker colors like gray and burgundy look good on me. She also said all I need is a bit more confidence, the cockieness to pull off the look. On top of all that, I was always drawn to the Badboy characters in movies, they just seemed to be the coolest person in comparison to the other characters.
@Chris thanks for linking me to that article. Its interesting that black guys dont have to dress as edgy as others. I'll use the "well-dressed" recommendations in your style guides to help come up with some outfits.
@Ethan do you have any recommendations for the badboy look, like outfits and certain staple items to have. Guessing the black leather jacket would be a big one.
I'll get a female to go to the mall with me and try out both styles to see which one fits me better. Thanks for your input guys and even more is welcomed!

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
