Hey guys I'm not in a position to spend money on much of anything until I get my engineering degree in a year and a half. I wouldn't quite describe by hair as norwood 3 in the front yet but it is receding, getting quite thin on the crown, and generally getting thin. I know a year and a half isn't a ton of time to wait to employ standard methods but I wanted to protect my hair while I can. It's been a pretty steady march of loss the last 5 years. A lot of you guys have said good things about the laser therapy to promote blood flow. I've also read that you can massage your scalp with a brush a few times a day to promote blood flow. Does anyone have any experience with that or have any other recommendations to sustain my hair for cheap?

How do you take it? In the GLL guide he has it at about $1 per day after taking a half a dose every other day.

It’s 30 tablets of generic 5mg finasteride, cut into fourths, so 1.25mg daily. You might have to shop around. I get mine from Walmart.

I would definitely try topical minoxidil before finasteride. Finasteride should be a last resort as it interferes with your androgens.

Look, I’m just sharing what has worked for me. It’s ultimately your decision and you should do your own research and talk with your doctor before considering a new medication.
That said, I did my own due diligence beforehand and decided that the panic being spread around the net was misleading and not supported by the data. Anecdotally, I’ve been on the drug for 5 years now with zero side effects. I’m very happy with my decision considering that it completely halted my hair loss with literally zero downsides. Minoxidil actually gave me awful dryness and flakiness on my scalp so I eventually gave that up. Just my 2 cents.

I assume you're describing a progression as in try one then the next after waiting a period of time. If so how long should I wait to see the effectiveness?

But how do you get the prescription for the 5mg tablets, seeing it's for prostate... Doubt a dr. would give me that prescription. Was paying $30 a month, but just got it down to $20. Very interested in this... that would be a huge savings. Thanks!

Just ask your doctor to give you the Rx for bigger pills that you can divide to save money. You can also look into say a 3-month single prescription, could be cheaper than 1 month at a time.

But isn't it classified as proscar, which is only for prostate issues... Didn't think they'd up the dose. Guess I'll keep paying the $20 a month, because currently don't have a dr.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
