I used to know a lady making over 20k/mo selling erotica novels on Amazon. This was a few years back and I haven't kept in contact with her, so Idk what's going on now.
I wonder if the market is saturated, or if it even can get saturated. What are you doing to set yourself apart from others? I feel like you'll need to have a competitive advantage (not price) if you're going to try this.
Best of luck, throw any questions up on here and maybe someone'll have an answer. I have a large network of Amazon people so I'm sure I could ask one of them if you get stuck.

OP, why did you pick the Erotica niche? How do you plan on people finding your book on Amazon?
I only have experience with non-fiction books and publishing books in a niche where the competition is not too big for the main keywords. But that is probably not possible in the Erotica niche since there are hundreds, if not thousands of books with similar titles.
I've published 3 stories so far and am publishing the 4th tomorrow. The sales are slowly coming in:
There are so many different niches to write in erotica. To do research just go to the Kindle ebook store and type in '(insert word here) erotica'. Anything with a few hundred ebooks (or less) is a niche where your book has more of a chance to be successful.
I've published 5 books so far. Last week I had sales almost everyday, but this week it's compteley stalled:
I've made about $45 so far:
All the stories I've published are priced at $2.99. Based on Kindle's royalty program you get to keep 70% of this sale on books priced at $2.99 or higher. So I get to keep a little over $2 per sale which is a good commission.
I'm planning on releasing another story tomorrow, and then 3 next week. The next 30 days will be important to see which books and niches make me the most money.
I imagine this to work best if you build a long term following. Like a subscription based, or pay per chapter concept. Give the 1st section away free on your website. Make it juicy with a cliffhanger, then $2.99 for them to continue the story and see where it goes. If you take it really far, you ask for reader input on where they imagine it going. Start a forum where they can discuss the story.
*edit: check out the show Lost Girl. It's pretty forward for a public tv show. And a female who has to be sexual to survive...Chicks will eat up that supernatural love shit.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
Kratom is next!
