I've been looking into making a website or 2 and curious if quality content is really all that's needed to get ranked on google or if backlinking is all that matters or if these things don't matter and the secret is kept to the successful people and everything else is garbage and just someone trying to sell you SEO tips etc.
I'm not trying to get spoon fed if that's what it seems like lol and I understand it takes 6-12 months before I would see any progress being made. Is anyone on here making money with SEO/ Affiliate marketing these days and if so what are some key things I truly need to know thanks
From my limited experience in internet marketing and seo, quality of content matters when it comes to getting subscribers and "fans", however it doesn't matter much when it comes down to ranking on google.
I've had a blog for years for which I wrote some really good in-depth articles and they barely rank (they lie deep within the range of the 4th~7th google page), all its analytics metrics are solid but it doesn't rank.
I've heard that about ~8 years ago (different algorithm) content was king, probably true but IDK. That's why I'm now focusing on learning seo and marketing skills, I've seen average-at-best content raking high so yeah.
The way to make money with SEO & affiliate marketing as a beginner, is to focus on making a shitton on content, and getting lucky hitting some long tail variations that doesn't have a high compeition ie. keywords nobody else is targeting.
The "proper" way is doing comprehensive keyword research, finding the easiest keywords to rank for, creating a content plan to target all this keywords AND backlinking.
You can definitely get lucky with content alone, but remember everybody else is creating shitton of content, so there has to be another determinator, and that is the off-page part: backlinks.
SEO is very complicated to get right, and as you're just starting out, I would actually recommend looking into Google Ads instead. You're going to be paying per visitor, it's much much faster. This means you'll quicker learn what works, and what doesn't.
Learning SEO the hard way takes, at the very least, 6 months. Then you factor in ranking the site, which also take upwards of 6 months. Now you're looking at a year of hard work, which MIGHT pay itself off
Paid traffic allows you get traffic tomorrow, which means the learning curve is severely shortened. You might think of SEO as "free" traffic, but your time is worth something as well.
That's what I'd do if I was starting out now at least

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
