Been using a dinosaur computer for years, it's time to upgrade to a new laptop. My current computer simply runs too slow and I have a suspicion it is almost at the end of its usable lifespan.
Do you guys have any recommendations for laptops that won't break the bank but are still good? I don't need something crazy that allows you to seamlessly play games or anything that require high powered video cards or any of that shit, i just need something that operates really well and is efficient at what I need (to write, play music, webcam stuff, use the internet, etc.) Cheers |

Somewhat expensive, but Surface Pro 4s' are great.
Otherwise Lenovo's putting out good stuff atm. Need a price range to actually recommend something. |

I'm more looking for an in general answer. I'm willing to throw down the money necessary for quality if I need to. Just looking for the best options that will last a long time, and be reliable basically and can complete the basics good and quickly without breaking the bank way too hard. Don't need some crazy fancy operating system that will cost hundreds extra just so I could play warcraft seamlessly or something is basically what I'm trying to get at because I will only be using it for work purposes probably and at the most demanding level possibly streaming movies. |

Same here, the MacBook still runs quick and fast since 2010. I guess you get what you paid for. |

Bought my wife a Lenovo Ideapad 100s for Black Friday last year. She liked it so much that when my laptop finally died in Janurary I bought one for myself as well when Best Buy ran another sale on it.
Cost was ~$200. Basic laptop but gets the job done. |

BTW, next year I'm gonna claim the cost of my laptop as a business expense thanks to my kratom site. |

Shit I didn't even think about that. Does that usually work? I have to buy a laptop soon and if I could claim it as a business expense for my blog that would be killer. What if the laptop is a somewhat expensive one? |

From what I've seen online, yes. As long as you use the laptop only (or primarily) for work.
You can also claim all or part of your internet fees, cell phone data plan fees, and anything else you use to run your business. Robert from 30 Days To X has written that he claimed a bunch of books that he bought last year as deductions, too. I'm going to meet with a CPA in a few months to figure some of this stuff out in order to be ready for next year's taxes. When I do I'll report back what they say. |

I got an Asus from qvc for about 500 and it runs great and I used it for a bunch of shit just do your research you can find something that fits your budget and your goal. Check the specs. I hate Apple so I refused to get a Macbook IMO it's overpriced and they restrict their users too much. For business you want something with a large HDD (more preferably sdd since it's faster). Check user reviews and the processor you want speed and ease of use. I'd stay away from Windows 8 if you can it's a bit tricky to get used to but not entirely bad.

I need something that has decent video editing software (for making good youtube videos), runs quick without taking forever to load stuff, has basic office applications like microsoft word for writing, and has a big enough screen, and ideally a high quality webcam.
Ya the new windows layout makes me feel like an old man not understanding technology when I try and navigate that shit. |

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
