If your ever challenged to a fight .. or ... if someone is disrespecting you in anyway ... would you get physical ? or simply walk away becuase its not worth your time ?
Today at the gym I was doing a shoulder workout . I grabbed my dumbbells and was going to do side 1 arm raises , I hold onto a machine and lean to do the raises . I go to my spot and start doing reps , I head yelling behind me , had my headphones on so didnt hear it all but it was something like - "Get out of the way , I need the mirror , doing my set , etc " And its this big roided up tatted mohawk dude , doing some jumping jacks / bench exercises , I wanted to tell him bro theres a shit ton of mirrors in this gym , but I just moved out the way and waited for him to finish his set . Then I do my set and when he sees Im done he says "move out" then he started doing his set . I only waited like 30 seconds for him to do his set so I dont mind that part , but I felt like a little bitch the way he treated me and the way I acted . Maybe I should of spoken up or just ignored him and continued doing my reps without moving , then maybe I would get some unwanted problems with him , he did seem a bit crazy . I could of told him to fuck off or ignored him and continued doing my reps then possibly a fight might break out , what would I gain from this ? ..... Nothing Some situations are just a waste of time to deal with and its better to just keep quite and move on , pretty pointless to get into stupid arguments / fights with random people who mean nothing to you , but does it make you look weak if you avoid altercations because you dont see it being worth your time ? Just wanted to get the community's opinion on this topic , please share . |

What will I gain from this ?
Will this better my life in anyway ? Who is the person ( important or a nobody ) Is my life at risk ? My loved ones at risk ? What are the consequences ? Possible for a negative outcome ? I usually get thoughts like these in my head when I encounter any situations , theres alot of different ways I could of reacted but I choose to keep quite , move out for 20 seconds , let him finish then get back to it . If I ignored him or said piss off to him then it could of got heated argument and maybe physical . I simply saw Nothing to gain from this situation .... I did feel "weak" at first , but I think I made the right decision . I hate using the terms Alpha and Beta , but alot of guys are brainwashed thinking in order to be a Man , be Alpha , then you have to be ready to fight at all times , do not take shit from anyone and always be aggressive . Thanks for your input guys , anyone else have any views on this topic . About my situation and maybe share your own experiences / views aswell . |

Completely depends on the situation. But there is middle ground here in your situation.. Its letting your voice be heard. I was working out with some dumbbells a few weeks ago and apparently I "set" them down to hard and a dude came up me and said Im going to "ruin the fucking weights". I picked the weights back up and slammed em on the ground and told him to fuck off. He wasnt about nothing, he went and told the staff like a child (did I also act like a child? lol sure). The chance that yall would of got into a fight are slim to none man, way too many people around. Let me preface this by saying Im a really nice dude but Im also loud and a bit short tempered. No way would I of let someone raise their voice and say "get out of my way". But thats my personality, it may not be yours. Some people have the flight and some people have the fight, its simply a chemical reaction. Was it worth fighting about? Nah man Was it worth being a smart ass dick head? hell yea. fuck him. Never in my life have I been that big of a dick to someone like that who was in my space. What I dont like, is how you're feeling right now. Just move past this particular situation. BUT next time this happens, remember how it made you feel and act accordingly so you can walk away with your head up. |

hahah what the hell man, I've gone to various gyms for a few years now and never caught any shit like that, it probably would depend on how I felt, sometimes a dude looks at me weird and I'm like dafuq, I'd slap the shit out of this guy but other times I just ignore it completely.
idk what I would have done, probably finished my set and then left elsewhere Index of my legal supplement experiments

Don't pm me asking questions if you are not going to message me back with a thank you after a lengthy answer or if you are going to debate with my experiences. If you can't say please and thank you, ask your mother to teach you some manners.

Smashing the weights down followed by a fuck off .. ![]() ![]() ![]() Im a very chill guy , keep to myself , dont show alot of emotion , the little shit dont bother me too much . I dont dwell on the past , I cannot go back and change my actions but I can learn and if I encounter similar situations I would be prepared so to speak . @hackleech I've been to 5-8 gyms , some gyms have very odd personalities lol , @Username I agree with you . I always live by - Do whatever you think is Right to you , if you wana do X then do X and dont care what others think . I just made this thread to hear the opinions of the community regarding this , how they would react , etc . Wanted to get some discussion started regarding similar topics . |

Omg, dude. Some shit like this happened to me last year at the gym and still haunts me to this day. First off, you're not less of a man. But yeah, there will be times when you have to speak up and defend yourself. Not everything has to be settled with violence but because we're men and it's within our nature to be aggressive it's a widely held belief we're to get physical when soneone tries to step on us. What you did was better than taking a dumbbell and hitting him in the face with it. I'm very quiet and laid back, nice guy and I get a lot of flack for not speaking up or speaking out.
Bear with me, this a long rant. I was working out and saw this guy i'd never seen before across from me doing his routine. He was fucking jacked and it was obvious he wasn't natural. It was intimidating to watch. He was doing set after set of multiple exercises with no rest in between. I made a note to stay out of his way. He came near me to grab some dumbbells off the rack and said excuse me, kindly. I respectfully backed away and sat on this bench to do some reardealt flies. Then, outta nowhere, he comes over and starts doing dumbell rows right in my fucking face. I'm staring at him like wtf. Then he starts glancing at me over his shoulder and gets pissed. He turns around and flips out and is all, "really, dude? Don't you think you're too close?" And he's standing over me menacingly as I look up at him from the bench in disbelief. (What he failed to realize was i didn't put that bench there. I just happened to sit on it and he'd been working out in that area before i came over and he obviously saw it). I was petrified to even form a response. But it didn't stop there. He started yelling at me and his voice was so loud it shook my soul. The fucking manager, a bitch who does nothing but look cute and bullshit with the clients, didn't do a damn thing besides casually restocking the paper towel dispensers and acted as if nothing happened. He started tellin me to back up. I was too scared to move. I just stared and he ridiculed me like I was in the wrong. He cussed me out and verbally tore me down. The whole gym grew silent and watched and I felt embarrassed. He nonchalantly struts to the calf raise machine, starts doing reps, gets off , looks at me smugly and says "I'm waiting." He told me to move again, and his voice got louder with each command. Eventually, I obeyed (and felt like shit doing so). I thought if I gave him what he wanted he'd stop but that only made his ego worse. He continued to insult me and that's when I stood up and told him he needs to calm down and lower his voice and not talk to me like that. He blew up with this classic line which I still laugh at: "THIS ISN'T A FUCKING LIBRARY. THIS IS A PLACE OF INTENSITY." He told me I didn't belong in the gym and should go somewhere else if I can't handle people screaming at me. He said some other shit I don't remember and went off to go dominate some other part of the gym. But yeah, dude. It was frightening. I never experienced that kind of disrespect before and I'm sure i'll have others. He was obviously on roids and I found out much later I wasn't the only person he was raging on.That's that alpha male shit I can't stand because he literally thought he was king of the jungle. I even wanted to call him an alpha male but in a disparaging way. I saw him one other time after that and he barely looked me in the eye. I hope they kicked him out but I think he got bored and left. Again sorry for the rant. I was eventually gonna share this here and this thread seemed fitting because I felt like a pussy when I did what that asshole told me to do as well. Truthfully, he wouldn't have done shit to me because there's cameras all over the gym. Formally known as Max_500

Eh man , dont apologize for the rant . Im sorry you had to go through that shit , he prob had roid rage whatnot , but hey , atleast you got a great story to tell ppl ; ) I would liked to share a story aswell , it kinda relates to this topic . Carlo Gambino was the most powerful mafioso of all time , he had all the money , he had soo much power that no one could touch him . He was very soft spoken , not the big , macho , aggressive loud type . One night Carlo was at a restaurant when a wiseguy named Carmine Scialo began to insult him . Scialo was a feared hit man and figured his violent reputation would frighten Gambino . Carlo Gambino took the harassment in silence without saying a word . Not long after the incident , Scialo's body was found encased in the cement floor of a brooklyn basement . Everyone in the underworld knew Scialo died for insulting Gaminbo . I watch some videos on how humans have similar behaviors to gorillas and other animals . Some guys take this too far and try too hard to be the big macho Alpha guy . My attitude was always very laid back and silent , I never saw the point of random fights / arguments . However , I do have limits if anyone crosses then I dont mind speaking up and getting physical , when I feel I am in danger then I will react differently , if I feel my family / loved ones were insulted then I will react differently . |

Im going to go against the tide here and say yes you absolutely should have said something. He would not have even thought twice about the situation and you feel like a bitch according to your post! Never let people push you around, go all the way if you believe you are in the right.
Nothing worse then feeling like a bitch! It's Happening!

Just tell him to fuck off, continue what you're doing. Personally if I get hit on the head I could sue the guy for everything he owns due to the fact that it's all I use for my job.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
