Good thread! I want to try some of these on my multiple choice tests. For real though, I can study for like 10 hours and these tests still fuck me over.

Can't wait for Chris' methods.

I'm doing college for a piece of paper and I am not going to waste more of my life on it if I can spend a bit less time on useless information that I won't remember in 5 years.

I've been working on a 3rd year computer science project. There was a list of shit to choose from with stuff that sounds really cool like "flight simulators", "a tool for analysing big data" and loads of other shit which is backend algorithms and is hard to do and hard to present. I picked a website cause it's basic, you can find libraries online, frameworks, use bootstrap, plugins etc.
So we're supposed to start this project 6 months ago - I started about 2 months ago, put like 20 hours of work in then stopped for a month and have been working on it since. I knew i wasnt gonna get it done to a good standard so i forked out $200 for a website design using bootstrap, download a user login system and then just spent a month tailoring this to the project.

I had a presentation yesterday and I got 85%. Baring in mind the top classification you can get in the UK is 70%+. All the features they were raving on about were features that the frameworks and libraries added. Mobile compatibility (from bootstrap), google maps (used a plugin which took 2 hrs to install), encryption (came with the user system). So i've been rewarded for collating this stuff together basically. Whereas people who have done complex algorithms which are much better than my work, what do they have to present? Some fucking numbers in a file - which is not impressive at all, especially for the amount of work they've put in.

So the moral of the story - don't pick something which is cool and will teach you stuff - pick something you have experience with, are good at and is easy to present.

If you're in a large fraternity (especially with an alumni base) you could suggest making a Drop Box folder shared and available to all brothers past and present where you share files such as Tests, Papers, Lecture Materials, Notes, etc.

That's a powerful resource.
