Hey guys I got a stress fracture during my senior football season that healed without surgery and then I got a sub acute later in the year. Im playing division 1 sport and need it to heal any tips on anything I could take to speed up the healing or increase its chances otherwise I'm facing surgery. By the way its in my fifth metatarsal.
unfortunately, (for myself as well because I noticed your post due to the proximal tibia stress fracture I seem to have gotten from running) The only thing I've heard is make sure that your not calcium deficient in your diet and supplement with calcium in addition to that because stress fractures (can) happen due to the body pulling calcium out of the bones in those who are nutrient deficient. Other than that, it looks like the best idea is to sit it out because you can turn it into a real fracture. There's also something called a "bony stress reaction" and, from what I understand, it's similar to the tiny tears in muscle tissue that you get from lifting (only it occurs in bones also during a reforming process where they are building themselves up); good part about a stress reaction is that it is not quite yet a stress fracture and you can heal in 2 to 4 weeks instead of 4 to 6. Other than that it just sucks bro. sorry to hear that. I'm 27 so I just do my stuff to stay in shape and this is annoying the hell out of me so I can imagine how you feel. If you haven't had an mri since your first injury healed, maybe you can pray that it's a stress reaction and not a fracture yet; in which case taking like 3 weeks off now may be the best plan as you would be in full health by the time preseason was over most likely..maybe sooner.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
