Just a personal journal for beating depression and anxiety and such. I have a small degree of several personality disorders, although they used to be much worse. I had a very traumatic childhood, which I think is the main reason. Being traumatized for a decade of my life had a lasting impact. Anyways, here's some action steps for myself. For time and money reasons, I am not seeing a professional at the moment. My school offers free or cheap therapy sessions so I may start that this summer.
Two years ago I was seeing a therapy for a few months and that did help for a bit. I realize it is important to get along with your therapist as well. Also, I have been seeing a psychiatrist regularly for maybe over 10 years now. At least once a year, lately 2 times a year. Action Plan. 1. Started taking fluoxetine 40 mg. (Prozac) 2. Meditating regularly. Like daily. 3. Reading books on spirituality and meditation. This has been helpful. 4. Therapy books written by professionals. I read 1-2 hours every single day leisurely, so this has been a way to direct my existing habit of reading towards helping myself. This has been helpful, it is cathartic sometimes. Some have action plans too. I have some therapy workbooks as well, but have not really gotten through those yet. 5. Start therapy sessions with a professional over the summer possibly. Goals. 1. Beat depression. 2. Not be suicidal ever. This is a serious issue of mine, it happens maybe once a year, some bad event with catalyze these feelings. It's the same reason I won't have a gun in my house. 3. Be more positive and happy in general, at least above average feeling, if using emotions is a barometer for success. 2017 Goals.

Hey, I'll add that book to my reading list. I'm 24. Also, I already work out very consistently. One thing I could add though is cardiovascular exercise, since I only lift weights. I haven't run because I've never had to put effort into keeping my body trim. I appreciate the feedback. It's definitely gonna be a long journey, but I'm determined to get over these inner issues once and for all. 2017 Goals.

I'd say not to forget the role that nutrition and food has on the body. I used to be suicidal all the time and always tried all the cognitive stuff. It wasn't until I combined the cognitive stuff with getting my body functioning right and correcting vitamin and mineral deficiencies that I really started to feel great.

Yeah, for sure man. I noticed I feel better when I work out often and eat right. I think cardiovascular exercise would also be a good addition to my routine. Thanks! 2017 Goals.

For sure man! I'm feeling a lot better. We'll see how this goes though, gotta keep it up. Things that I've done that have helped. 1. Working out often. 2. Meditating daily. 3. I read spirituality zen meditation books daily too, just 1 chapter a day before I meditate. 4. Reading therapy books by professionals. 5. Getting adequate sleep. 6. Eating healthy. 7. Journaling. This one helps a lot, just simply writing about your day and certain events really helps you process them, this is a cathartic experience. 8. Being a little more social. Hanging out with people, making a connection. Going to start going out more often. 2017 Goals.

For sure man! I've been keeping a journal for the last 6 months almost. Not only is it meditative in itself it also forces you think about how you feel and why you feel this way. This is an incredibly tool to helping yourself get better, and I think it's the single most important thing I've done to get rid of my anxiety and depression. Trust me, when you're through you'll be stronger than anybody else. You'll be resilient to stress and you'll know exactly how you feel and why you feel this way. You'll know what makes you sad and what makes you happy. By knowing this you can truly optimize your life, getting rid of everything that makes you sad, and do more of what makes you happy. Have you got your testosterone levels checked? I found that my response to stress started changing when I began focusing on improving my T levels. I used to let stress accumulate in my head until I crashed into a depressive hole. Now, excessive stress turns into frustration and anger instead, which is A LOT better. Depression = zero motivation, anger = lots of motivation. Oh, and one thing - I know you have it as a goal to never be suicidal again, but if it it happens it happens. Don't let it get you down but instead use it as an learning experience. Write down everything that has happened and why you think these situations made you feel this way. Write how you think and how it changes based on your mood. The more details the better. See it as an learning experience every time you get depressed and know that for each time you get depressed the more you learn about yourself. Over time you'll not only get rid of your depression, you'll be happier than anybody else. If you need help please don't hesitate to hit me up, I'll be glad to help. I've been where you've been ![]() "Motivation is fleeting and easy to rely on because it requires no concentrated effort to get. Motivation comes to you, you don't even have to chase after it.
Discipline is reliable, motivation is fleeting. The question isn't how to keep yourself motivated, it's how to train yourself to work without it." |

Hey thanks dude, I appreciate the input. Glad to know there are others out there who have been down the path and are rooting for me.For sure man! ![]() I have not had my T levels checked, although I might. I'm getting an MRI done this week for an unrelated issue. Also been managing stress really well this semester. I am taking a course load almost twice as hard as many of my class mates and I don't feel stressed at all. I'm also doing fairly well. Just shifted my focus towards more actionable things and less about worrying, also more confidence in my ability to handle adversity. 2017 Goals.

I'm another with trauma based depression, anxiety and suicidal episodes. But I really think it's important to maintain proper help because of the nature of the beast - since it was in your childhood it's 1) very deeply embedded into your mind, psyche or whatever and 2) it's probably seriously repressed which also explains why you're suicidal a few times a year but not always.
Stay strong bro. |

Been eating healthier and still meditating every day. Getting enough sleep helps. Also reading relevant books. Just ordered another set of books written by professionals pertaining to childhood trauma. Gonna end this depression once and for all. If I read one of these books a month and apply daily all the teachings in them, that should be good. While continuing to meditate daily and monitor my own moods and thoughts. I also read 1 chapter daily of meditative stuff and listen to motivational stuff all day like Tony Robbins, etc.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
I DEFINITELY didn't think that your hair-loss prevention would fix my hairline. Not in a billion years. It mother fucking did. You saved me a crazy amount of time, a ton of money, unnecessary pain, and destroyed my #1 source of anxiety. DESTROYED IT.
