First off, a little bit about me. Feel free to skip this paragraph if you wish. I'm starting college in 8-9 months, minority, above average facial aesthetics (3 or 4 chicks called me cute/commented on my attractiveness today and I got nominated for most handsome ), 2-3 months of weightlifting experience from last summer (school got too hectic; aka I'm a bitch). Kissless virgin. Cool with the cool kids, two of their girls are into me, but I never wanted to get into that crowd because I was into video games when they were into drinking, pot, gangs etc. But I'm not 'popular' at my HS (it's a small HS), I guess you could throw me somewhere in the middle. Average guy social skills (how do I improve this?), average guy social freedom, average guy social status. I think I qualify as a good looking loser the more I think of it.
I'm a minority that intends to position myself as high as possible on the male college social hierarchy by becoming a frat star (if not, frat brother will do). But I also feel that with hard work, I can get good enough at some sport (probably a minor sport) that I can join in college and net more poon/status. Which sport could I get good at in 8-9 months that I would be able to walk onto in college?
I doubt I could be a walk-on in any major sport since it's rare. But my friends tell me that I could be a running back in football (based solely on their perception of my size). I doubt this though, especially since I might go to a big 10.
I swam in my senior year (season is done now) but at my all black school, all the girls care about is basketball. I'm also not very fast (they had to teach me how to swim). To add, I don't really like swimming :/. I mean, it's okay, but I just don't find it to be that fun. But fun is something I am willing to sacrifice on my journey to becoming a top 20% man. So it's still on the table.
What other tips do you guys have on maxing out social status in college (sports and non-sports related)? I could always join like 5 clubs + a frat and pull in mad tail, so I've been told.
PS. Stats: 5'9 (5'11 depending on what I'm wearing) and 148-ish pounds.
Football and basketball are the top 2 sports. also rugby and hockey is popular in some colleges
Weigh 160 lbs (May: 154 lbs) (August: 156 lbs)
Deadlift 3 plates (2 plates) (**on hold for lower back injury)
Have 50,000 in my bank account (30,000) (August: 50,000) COMPLETE
Develop a second source of income (working on it) (real estate)
Think about your competition for status in these sports. It will be people with a passion for the sport at the very least, often coupled with some natural athletic talent. You won't do very well against them if your reason for doing the sport is something other than really wanting to do that sport because you're obsessed with it.
I would say you need to find what you're good at and focus on that. If you don't know what you're good at you need to pick something you really like. Otherwise you'll just suck at whatever you pick AND be frustrated and sexless.
Having a passion for something--whether it's sports or an academic pursuit, or saving the world--is what will be the main factor in making your activity help your attractiveness. Women just can't resist the challenge of a guy with passion for something he loves. The passion they observe in him is what gets them hot. Then they want to get to that guy and get that passion directed at them. Total catnip for chicks.
Now with regards the whole frat thing--that may be related here but I won't opine on that because I have no experience. In my non-big, non-sports centric college experience frats were sort of the ugly stepchild of the social scene and those guys seemed to only get frat groupie chicks who were kinda drunk and fat most of the time. I think they did well off-campus tho.
Take it from a former college athlete, there's no way in fuck you can get enough experience between now and college to play at a D-1 level. You might be able to play club sports, but you're better off dedicating yourself to the weights and your fitness.
These guys said it. Stick to lifting and get as jacked as possible. Your only bet to play college sports with your experience would be a junior college and juco sports are a fucking GRIND. I played baseball at one. 5 hours of practice a day. if you are doing this just to be popular, you WILL NOT succeed. These guys are dedicated to playing.
You will be much happier getting jacked on your own and enjoying college without a sport.

I saw that you're also looking into joining a fraternity, so I thought I'd let you know that in many schools the fraternities and sports teams seem to have a negative view of each other; this is probably just because of competition since both are organizations that tend to throw house parties, compete for women, etc. In other words, some of the sports guys might give you shit for rushing a fraternity, or vice versa. I think this depends on the school though.
In terms of official school teams, you're not going to get on one unless you have significant skill. In other words, you can't really just "pick it up now" before college. You could join a sports club though, which is sort of like a team except unofficial and on a lower skill level. This isn't a bad way to meet decently cool guys and be involved with parties, etc.
I'd either choose rushing a fraternity or a sports club, AND stick to lifting to attract women on your own.

I didn't think the "Get Hung" guide would have girls eyeing my bulge. It did.
I didn't think that your exercise and diet advice would have girls checking me out. It did.
