Steroids 101 & Beginner Cycle

Before you even consider using steroids, you need to read this.
In fact- read it a couple of times.
While “steroids” have gotten a bad wrap from the media and pansies, they are actually fairly safe compounds- PROVIDED THE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Legally speaking, I have to tell you get your doctor’s approval before you use steroids, believe it not- some doctors willing have a open dialogue about anabolic steroids. I also have to tell you to only use steroids if they are prescribed by your physician and do not use exceed the directed dose or be in a country where steroids are not illegal for personal use. Whether you actually do this- is up to you.

If you are interested in adding performance enhancement into your fitness lifestyle then you need to make sure you have training and diet down first, steroids alone will not give you the body you want. Steroids will allow you get the results you want in half the time (actually less than that) and also allow you to go beyond genetic potential. You must know that it’s a combination of everything that you do on a daily basis that gets you results. It’s your lifestyle. You don’t want to run crazy cycles when you are just starting out, you need to build your way up. You don’t want to go crazy unless you are crazy actually, I don’t know how safe it is to go heavy on doses. You get the results you want with hard work and being consistent with it all day in and day out.
If you want to start your first cycle of steroids you need to keep it simple.
Testosterone should be in all cycles from bulking to cutting, doses depending on your goals. If you are trying to build some muscle then you can use more testosterone than if you were cutting. You have to remember that your natural testosterone is shut down if you take steroids in doses large enough to shut you down and you need to at least supplement it when going on steroids. Testosterone in high-normal ranges is needed to keep a man healthy and today normal is around 800-1000 Nano grams per deciliter. Keep in mind that when you are shut down that your balls will get smaller. When you get off they will grow back after time but there is a medication called HCG that will keep them from shrinking. HCG should be used at 250iu every day for 2 weeks on 2 off or 3 on 3 off and repeat until the last 3 weeks of your cycle if you choose.

Steroids 101: Testosterone = Estrogen and DHT = Possible Side Effects
When you take testosterone or other steroids in high doses you can have unhealthy side effects. Testosterone will convert into estrogen and DHT and if you take it in high doses you will have higher estrogen and DHT levels.
Estrogen will give you a feminine physique, fat gains on the hips and breast tissue (gynocomastia).
Some of the side effects you should look for when estrogen is high are edema, sensitive or sore nipples, feminine fat gains.
DHT will cause acne and accelerate male pattern baldness (if you are prone to it) and can also be bad for the prostate in large amounts.
Some side effects from DHT to look for are acne, oily skin, and male pattern baldness.
You can use aromasin or arimidex as the anti-estrogen to eliminate the estrogen-related side effects. The usual dose of aromasin is 12.5mg-25mg every day and the doses for arimidex is .5mg-1mg every other day, the doses will depend on you.
To lower DHT you can take finasteride, the usual dose is .25mg-1mg every day but it can vary.

On top of that you can use minoxidil and azelaic acid to reduce scalp DHT. Saw palmetto can be a good supplement for some people to block low-moderate levels of DHT. You can also add in a multivitamin and B complex to encourage hair growth, although testosterone alone will certainly do that. DHT will also destroy some of the estrogen. DHT is not your number one enemy but neither is estrogen. Just keep them around normal ranges, play with the doses. Get blood work if you can and have a doctor prescribe you the medication you need. Be on the look out for side effects.
It will vary from person-to-person on how prone they are to estrogen/DHT side effects.
Steroids 101: Effects on Blood Lipids (Cholesterol)
You will need to keep in mind that steroids will lower good cholesterol (HDL) and raise bad cholesterol (LDL), even testosterone in doses of 500mg a week. You can keep cholesterol in check by following a good diet but taking niacin and b vitamins and omega 3 fatty acids may be helpful as well. Niacin is one of the few supplements that is clinically proven to increase HDL. If you are taking fish oil then make sure it is of good quality because you don’t want to risk mercury poisoning when taking large doses of around 5 grams a day or more. There are a few cholesterol medications you can ask your doctor for if it gets out of hand. Don’t go crazy and you won’t have to worry about cholesterol medications.
Steroids 101: Potential Temporary Hypertension (Blood Pressure)
Steroids can raise your blood pressure and the higher your doses the higher your blood pressure can rise. Steroids can increase red blood cells and water retention increasing blood pressure. You can keep this in check by eating a healthy diet (low-moderate sodium) and doing cardiovascular exercise. There are a few supplements out there that will help too but the first step is to make sure you have a diet consisting of whole foods with lots of fruits and vegetables and drink 1-1.5 gallons of water every single day. Adjust your salt to potassium levels by lowering sodium and raising potassium. Don’t smoke or drink alcohol. Relax. Try not to stress yourself out. There are some medications you can take if it gets out of hand but keep doses reasonable and you won’t need to worry about this.
Steroids 101: Increased Liver Values from Oral Steroids
Oral steroids can be liver toxic if taken in high doses for long periods of time. The toxicity is extremely overrated but keep the doses low and exposure time minimal just to be safe, 4-8 weeks and then take a break. If your skin and eyes start turning yellow then you need to drop orals. You can take 600mg milk thistle and 200mg alpha-lipoic acid every day while on orals. Make sure to eat your greens to help lower liver enzymes. Do not drink alcohol or take NSAIDs especially when taking orals, they are bad for the liver and gains. Generally the people that run into liver issues had prior-existing liver dysfunction or were combining oral steroids with alcohol and/or NSAID pain-relievers (Tylenol, etc.).
Steroids 101: Coming Off Steroids (Mandatory Post-Cycle Therapy)
When you come off steroids or are nearly off of them you will need to start a post-cycle therapy (PCT). Before starting PCT make sure to taper your dose of testosterone down so that your body slowly adjusts to normal levels of testosterone to avoid a crash. PCT will help you recover natural testosterone quicker so you can keep as much muscle as possible. There are many levels of PCT but for simple cycles Clomid and Nolvadex are used for a month or two. The usual doses would be 2-4 weeks with 100mg of Clomid and 40mg of Nolvadex every day and 2-4 weeks with 50mg of Clomid and 20mg Nolvadex every day.
The best way to transition from cycle to PCT is to taper testosterone down to a TRT dose (~250mg) and then start PCT and continue to taper testosterone down to 25mg for a week and then drop it but continue to stay on PCT . If you were using HCG then stop once you get to TRT dose of testosterone a week. If you can afford HGH then include it into your PCT at 4 iu a day for a few months to help keep looking ripped. 2 iu in the morning and 2iu before a workout and then spike insulin after your workout. As mentioned before, using HCG during your cycle in small doses can significantly increase your testicular/natural testosterone recovery.
Once you are completely off steroids do not train as long as you normally do when in PCT. Get in the gym and get out fast. You need to focus on doing your basic heavy compound movements, one exercise every other day and never do the same thing twice in a week. Try to avoid cardio and isolation movements until you are recovered because your main goal here is to keep your gains. After your workout you need to spike your insulin with a protein shake mixed with milk and have a big well-balanced meal to put you in an anabolic state. Take naps because you will need them, you will be tired anyways. Make sure you are never in a calorie deflect, who cares if you gain some fat because you want to keep your hard earned muscle. It should take a couple months to fully recover, it may take more or less but it will happen.

Testosterone Enathate (Test E) and Dianabol (Dbol)
Weeks 1-6-250mg Test E every 4th day and Weeks 1-3- 20mg Dbol Weeks 4-6- 40mg Dbol
Weeks 7-12- 500mg Test E every 4th day
Anti-estrogen (recommended since you don’t know if you are prone to estrogenic side effects or not)
Weeks 1-6-25mg Aromasin every other day
Weeks 7-12- 25mg Aromasin every day (dose will depend on how sensitive you are to estrogen)
Post Cycle Therapy (as important as the cycle)
Start PCT with 4 iu of HGH every day if possible
(Week 13- 250mg Testosterone Enathate once and 100mg Clomid and 40mg Nolvadex every day)
(Week 14-100mg Test E once and 100mg of Clomid and 40mg of Nolvadex every day)
(Week 15-50mg Test E once and 100mg of Clomid and 40mg of Nolvadex every day)
(Week 16-25mg Test e once and 100mg of Clomid and 40mg of Nolvadex every day)
Weeks 17-18- 100mg Clomid and 40mg Nolvadex every day
Weeks 19-22- 50mg Clomid and 20mg Nolvadex every day
